are you based in the UK Chickenhead? Any interest in getting a
weekly game of coop going? That'd be pretty cool.

Nope...I live in the Great White North. :) Seems I rarely have any
time for online games anymore. I've heard that SS2's co-op is pretty fun
though. I always played as an psy-agent or whatever they were called.

I always played as an OSI spook. The psyonic powers were a blast to use
(the psyonic fireball was one of the most effective weapons against those
damned annelid spiders, I found...).

The ability to upgrade your skills is what made this game so great. You could
start as a weakling OSI dude and gain the abilities to use the heavy weapons
that were open to a Navy Seal grunt, and the hacking/repair skills
the techies had. Only the original Deus Ex came close to this kind of
freedom.

Hey, can anyone recommend a decent tank game out there anymore? They seem to all have disappeared lately. I liked Battlezone and Batttlezone 2 for the PC, Mobile Armor for the Playstation, but I've not seen anything lately for console (Xbox) or Pc systems...

Oh, and here's a question : I love the long games, like the RPG's and quest games, and campaign games, but is there any decent short games?
I'm not a big fan of pogo and that crap, but decent games you can play for ten minutes at a stretch? You can't really do Never Winter Nights or Diablo 2, but can anyone recommend some games you can do 10 minutes at a stretch, and actually keep going at them. I mean, sure I'll play Super Collapse and Tetris, but it's not a continuable game, really..... know what I mean?

You might try ProgressQuest. http://www.progressquest.com. =)

I should re-install BattleZone. That game kicked ass...

Katamari Damacy is a decent, and addictive, short game. :) For the PS2.

Flynn: try Battlefield 1942 and BFVietnam for great tank action. Steel Beasts was fair, also.

Well for the hell of it, I decided to try to get System Shock 2 working on
Win2K again...and was successful, after much effort. You need to do three
things:

1) the game has to be installed with a magic flag that disables Windows version
checking
2) You need to install the hacked SafeDisc-purged EXE (after installing the
official patch)
3) you need to enable "safe" textures in the user.cfg

I also installed the "System Shock 2 Rebirth" mesh pack...very nice!

I still love this game. I don't know why Irrational hasn't released an
updated EXE that fixes all the modern Win-related problems.

1) System Shock 2
2) Gothic
3) Deus Ex (the original)

Runner up:
- Planescape: Torment

Oh and concerning Thief: You're right..absolutely fabulous series. The
first game had "Return to the Cathedral", one of the creepiest levels ever.
The second game had "Life of the Party", inspired by the "Fafhrd & Gray
Mouser" novels...simply awesome. And Thief: Deadly Shadows (aka Thief III)
had "Shalebridge Cradle," the most intense mindfuck of a mission I've
ever played. No game has ever freaked me out to the point where I had to
stop playing for a while, but that one mission did...I was so jumpy I
had trouble getting to sleep!

My all-time favorites: * Gran Turismo 3 (PS2): This one has spent very little time outside of my PS2 * Sim City 2000 (Mac): 3000 sucked, 4 is decent but doesn't live up to the simplicity of 2k * Marathon (Mac): Even without being 3D, it's the best FPS ever.

Marathon rocks - too bad Microsoft bought Bungie, otherwise we probably would have seen an OS X port of it by now.

I just finished HALO 2. The single players is a good game, but a bit of disappointed considering how awesome HALO was.
