I knew a guy that had one of the hook it up to the tv and the speaker output things to make "dazzling" images in the screen in time to the music.  Yea, it pretty much was used for what Mr-Atari says it was used for from what I could tell.

Just for tripping?  :)

And to think, the rest of the world just used Pink Floyd for that.

Yes, but you used both at the same time (Floyd and the flashing / blinking).  The movie came later than the album as I recall.

I forget where I've mentioned this before, but for those folks who remember Elite, the guy who originally created it is working on a significant upgrade to it in Elite: Dangerous:

(Er, please note that it costs 200 pounds sterling to get into the alpha for this... I expect the game, upon release, will not cost as much).

Imagine my disappointment when I clicked on a link thinking I would be shown an "elite dangerous cat" and instead it was a catalog of video games.

Lost pig sounds interesting.  Might keep his interest.  Let me know how it works.  Mine son is too old for that and is too in to Minecraft to care about text based adventures - although I am trying to teach him to program some simple ones....  Fun all around.

Still playing LOTRO

You're wasting your money; lotteries are a tax on people who are bad at math.

If your locale offers a 3-digit lottery, as in the old mob-run "numbers game" and if the payoff is at 250:1 or better, then here's the trick:

1. pick 120 of your favorite 3-digit numbers or pick 120 3 digit numbers at random.
2. bet each of those 120 numbers every day without fail.

According to probability theory, you will win on 3 out of 5 days. It is a profitable venture.
