I've been playing Age of Conan lately.
That's perhaps the most stable game I've ever played. And last night's update did something with the graphics that rivals the kind of stuff I saw in Oblivion.
Absolutely amazing, beautiful graphics work in a very well made online RPG (at least, it seems well made.. it's certainly unique).
Anyone else try this game? You have to be this tall to play it...
Actually, been playing this incredibly addicting Xbox Live game
called 'Age of Booty' where you sail around in pirate ship capturing towns, preventing your opponents
from doing so, getting resources, upgrading your ships (speed, armour, cannons) and upgrading the towns
Very, very fun - it's been a long time since I enjoyed a game this much.
Well, there's not much, as he so puts it - likea needle in a haystack finding a good game in amongst all the shit.
He just wants games to be fun.
I've watched most of his rants, and in general, he hits the nail pretty much on the head with games.
I find power slides fun, other people scream when I do that leading me to believe they don't think it's fun.
So what might be dull and lame to somebody who eats games for dinner might be lots of fun for others.
I was at a friends house the other night playing some xbox360 game with cars where you just endlessly try and shoot each other. Loads of fun. My friend who owned it told me he was really unimpressed by it and had expected a lot more based on the description.
It takes all kinds.
You happen to agree with him, proably lots of people do not.
Ford : They did write a column on if Zero Punctuation affects videogame sales:
It’s been over a year sinceBen “Yahtzee” Croshaw was plucked from YouTube obscurity to host Escapist Magazine’s Zero Punctuation video series, and the acid-tongued Brit with the surreal, machine gun patter remains the undisputed star of game reviews, with regular appearances on G4 TV, at the Game Developers Conference, and more. But does his massive fanbase buy the games he loves (which are few), and skip the titles he hates (nearly all of them)?
No, it's every Thursday :
Zero Punctuation: Fallout 3
From the website itself.
I was playing Age of Conan this morning, when our guild's discussion turned to fatality animations.
Someone was saying that he liked the blunt one best, which apparently involves beating the person repeatedly in the head.
But someone else said they found the spin-around-and-stick-a-dagger-in-the-back-of-someone's-head move rather satisfying.
Of course, I had to comment:
'I can almost see Martha Gramm now; "Piorette, Plung, and Pose!"'
Video game addicts are not so much addicted to gaming, as simply socially maladjusted, according to this article.
Tabula Rasa is closing their servers on 28 Feb 09.
However, they're opening the servers up for free play on the previous month.
I guess the game didn't do that well, but if you want to try it out before it goes away, you'll have a chance. Heh.
Interesting stories about how the Wii and 360 are destroying the PS3....
I'm also thinking when Blu-Ray players hit $150 price, if the PS3 is going to get even more hammered than
it is right now?
Just from personal experience, we picked up the Wii for our kids this Christmas - kid friendly, decent price.
We'd picked up the 360 a few years ago, as we had the original Xbox, liked the content,
and have never really thought seriously about a PS3 - the price is just too high.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
I know, I know, it's Microsoft, but a 360 for $200, a Wii for about $250 or a PS3 for $400 - I think PS3
has more and more its work cut out for it.....
Why the Wii and Xbox are killing Sony's PS3

In Battle of the Game Consoles, Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox Widen Leads Over Sony's PlayStationhttp://online.wsj.com/article/SB123050978162738293.html
I refuse to buy Sony products on principle. I believe Sony has an arrogance well beyond anything a consumer should endure, believing itself capable of screwing over the people who buy their products without consequence.
For details on why I can't stand Sony:
If I had the money for a game system right now it would definitely be a Wii.
Nintendo has really innovated here and captured the attention of a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't have given game consoles a second look.
I like the way they try to hide that the 360 is stalling in comparison to the WII...
xbox did 8% growth, while the wii doubled. DOUBLED? thats fucking 100% additional. Thats enormous for xbox dropped in price about half, and having stability problems.
Horay! the WII is hacked!
