I was speaking with my ms weenie friend today and he told me that ms server 2008 just came out, he thinks and this is the last upgrade since server 2003.
I never thought about it, but they've gone 5 years without an upgrade. Seems to me a lot has happened in 5 years, and they must be missing quite a lot of technology in their server system.
Then my friend pointed out to me that it's also kind of nice that he doesn'thave to learn a new batch of changes/api changes/infrastructure changes whatever every few weeks but every 5 years.
I'm not sure which side of the fence I'm on with that one.

Not really ... they just update dll's all the time, and when they introduce new stuff they just push it out with their developer kit, so all you third party developers help them to create dependency hell.

WoW Whore Has 36 Accounts, Raids by Himself

In what is perhaps the most shining example of obsession and geekiness I have ever seen, a fella by the name of Bradster has 36 World of WarCraft accounts that he plays on 11 computers simultaneously. He mainly seems to be doing it because he doesn’t like to rely on so many other people to get a raid going, which includes attacking the Alliance capital cities, and on that front I can totally see where he’s coming from.

I hate those Alliance douchebags too, but I’m not about to drop $5711 per year like Bradster is. The best way to get to them is to just live well, right? Well, Bradster doesn’t appear to be letting the Alliance off the hook so easily, as he plans on picking up 36 copies of Wrath of the Lich King on day one, spending around $1500, just so he can have a raid group of level 80 Shamans terrorizing Stormwind as soon as possible.

Read on to see how this crazy man manages to control all of these characters.

Holy cow... that's... just... wrong.

Bully for him, I suppose, for figuring out how to manage so many accounts at one time, but... shit.. that's insanity.

Absolutely. There's gaming, there's hobbies, there's being a fan, but then there's insanity.

Ok, so he really likes the game, and has maybe 2-3-4 accounts, but 36?!??!?

I enjoyed playing WoW, but I don't have the lack-of-life it takes to level up 36 characters enough to go on my own raids alone.

I mean, I lack a life, but not to that extent.

So, I went and tried Warhammer Online anyway, and it's fun.

When it doesn't freeze on me.

As it does every fifteen minutes or so, since the last patch.

I submitted a bug to this effect, attaching the DxDiag.txt file as suggested by the web site while you're submitting such things.  It makes sense.. the problem has to do with something interesting about how my machine is configured (probably because I have four cores or something), and they'll need to know about that.

I got a response fairly quickly:

"In order to research this problem [yadda yadda], we need information called dxdiag.exe."

So I responded thusly:

If you're asking me to upload the DxDiag.txt file, then I have another bug to report against your web site, as I see the file already attached here (as uploaded yesterday, when I originally submitted this), but apparently you cannot see it on your end. Please let me know when the web site has been repaired, before I attempt to send you this file again. Otherwise, I'm wasting my time to try to upload it again.

Oh, and the guy who didn't actually research my problem?  His name is Kartik Prasad.
