I'm guessing dothebart is having a rough time WebCitting on a Wii.

Now that I think of it, that kind of reads in a dirty fashion.

yes, it would need a keyboard, that screen thingi is not that fast for typing...

and... it wouldn't cache images at all, which makes it kind of sloooouwwww...

plus it blanks the screen while reloading... so everything you do... you stare at a white tv for 20 seconds...

It also doesn't support pop-ups, as dothebart discovered during an attempted paging session.

Spell says you can use a keyboard with a Wii. He says from what he recalls, you can use a USB keyboard...but he's unclear from memory if it's a special USB keyboard, or if your computer USB keyboard works.

The Wii only recently provided support for the USB keyboard in an update.
Honestly, I haven't tried it yet. I should, though... I'd like to know how well that works.

as long as I can hook my big fat loud ibm 101 up to it...

You'll need a PS/2 to USB converter, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to hook up your big fat loud IBM 101 keyboard. Although you might also need a 5-pin DIN to PS/2 converter, depending on how big fat and loud your keyboard is. :)

I just tried Googling and searching on Nintendo's Wii web site, and I can't find a definitive answer on whether any generic USB keyboard would work. I'll have to experiment a little. I'll try hooking up a regular PC USB keyboard, the USB keyboard for my PS3, and, since the Wii uses Bluetooth for the remote, I could try my wireless Bluetooth keyboard, too.

Subject: OBLIVION NOW!

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

OBLIVION, now I was wondering, is there anyway to Fight on the horse?  #2 Can you get armor for the horse or make the horse run faster? #3 Is there any usefulness to the horse whatsoever?

Ok considering that even on the oblivion message board no one knew what was going on, and everyone here didn't know, I assumed that it was my end only.  So I got an idea, and I switch the keyboard to the input that the flight stick was in, and wammo everything worked and the wheel went away.  Odd, I had the keyboard plugged into the front of the computer just for convienance, and it turned out not to be all that convienant after all.

Now once I get oblivion to stop cutting out and bouncing me back to the desktop everything will be awsome, totaly aWsome to the max.

Chances are, Oblivion is not cutting out on you so much as some other program is yanking attention away from Oblivion.

If you're using an HP printer, you need to call technical support, and explain the problem as nicely as possible. If you're lucky, and you don't get a mouth-breather, the person will have a solution for you. Or you might find information about the problem online.

I mention HP printers specifically because:

1. They're fairly common, as printers go.

2. They had a very annoying bug that did the same thing to me, as I played Oblivion. It took me months to track down which application was at fault, finally narrowing down to the HP drivers.

3. They make really shitty drivers these days.

Printers.  One thing about me is that since my Commodore 128 days I've givin up on printers.  Groo doesn't do printers.  Never have never will.  All  a printer ever does for me is create veins in my forehead, and that's after I smashed it with my trusty sledge hammer.  (I have had to work on printers at jobs I've had.  And I get them to work well enough until someone from the printer company comes by.  So I have some experience with them.  But one time me and my ex-boss Henry Fishback took this printer that we got fed up with to the woods and he gave me this big sledge hammer and we smashed it and drank coffee.  For a man in his 80's he was cool.  We then went and got another printer and it worked fine.)

It was just kind of wierd.  I was playing Oblivion all night and all morning, and suddenly it got slow, the music stopped, and wammo desktop.  (Ya know when I want to quit to desktop it takes like 3-5 minutes, but when it wants to it's like 30 seconds.) So now I need to assassinate the captain all over again.  Not saying it wasn't easy, just time consuming.

I joined up with the evil assassins.  Even though I'm a Gruntish bruit with heavy armor and blunt weapon skill, and hardly any ability to hide, sneak or pick locks.

Any suggestions?

Um... work on your sneak and security skills? You might also want to start wearing lighter armor, to work on those skills, too.

If you want to be an assassin.

You can work on any skills you want.

I will say that there are some very sneaky tricks for assassination on the Oblivion wiki. But I don't want to spoil them, so that's all I will say. Clever tricks.

You can always just bash your targets' heads in with a Blunt. Preferably of the large, two-handed unweildy and ugly sort.

I have been doing that, but then the Dark Brotherhood gave me some nifty tools of the trade, so things are getting better all the time.  Also I find that invisibility potions work wonders.  I finaly killed that damn dark elf in the prison.  I got past the guards by sneaking (thanks to the dark brotherhood armor I got) and invisibility potions when the heat got to much for my meager 29 sneaking to handle.

yeah I got this nice assassins armor (not what it is called) from the Dark Brotherhood.  Gives a small sneaking bonus but it helped a lot.

BTW, there is horse armor available in the oblivion downloadable content. there's also a chart on the wiki of which horses have the strongest attack.

I still haven't finished Oblivion.. I'm on hiatus from it for a bit for various reasons... but when I get back to it I'll probably download the horse armor first thing.
