like taking your sister out for a nice dinner. I'd like to think that

my hours of flight simulator might one day save my life. And that

oh come on, next thing you'll be saying that snakes on a plane wasn't a good movie

Taking your sister out for a nice dinner?  hehehe  That's a funny analogy!  I guess I've never thought about what I might get out of a nice dinner...other than a nice dinner and great conversation.  I suppose it's all subject to perspective or expectations!

Don't we call....because it's a waste of time???

Wait I thought that was part of the BBS charter!

Fri 09 Feb 2007 09:33:17 AM EST from Heather@uncnsrd

I think you could make that argument for just about any activity depending on your own opinions and preferences. There are a lot of people that think video games in general are not a good use of time.

There are a lot of people that think posting on a BBS is a waste of time as well. Yet here we all are.

Anyone who has ever played Final Fantasy (or any other turned-based adventure game) might really appreciate this video:

Damned clever idea.  Very amusing little movie of a turned-based adventure in a college, where three democrat college students seek to save the world from the evils of vegetarianism, and to a lesser degree, the Bush administration.

That was hilarious. Thanks for the link, fleeb. (I'm particularly a fan of Leviathan's Tidal Wave...)

An amusing little diatribe about the spin given to the violence-in-video-games debate:

Semi-rambly, but I found it funny.

I love Oblivion.

I shot this guy with 6 daedric arrows using my daedric bow, then turned myself invisible.

The guy went nuts trying to find me.

I snuck up behind him, once he figured I was gone, and pick-pocketed the arrows I shot in him, then turned invisible again.

He never noticed.

Hysterical stuff.

Everywhere you go in this world festers with incompetence.

Oblivion is a single-player game. The only possible incompetant game player in this scenario would be me. And, honestly, I'm practically a god in that game now.

There's an Escher-esque game someone is developing for PlayStation (not sure if it's for 2 or 3) that looks far more bizarre than Paper Mario for mind-fucking spacial-relationship testing.

It was very trippy. If I can find the web site showing animations of it, I'll pass it on.
