The thing about conspiracy theories is that they usually have *some* element of truth in them. That's what makes it easy for the establishment to dismiss actual truths as conspiracy theories.

That is what "they" say isn't it? The Bilderberg Jewish lizard Masons control the media so we believe what we
are told by them.

I caught about two minutes of "Cutthroat Kitchen" this evening before turning it off in disgust. When even the once-great Alton Brown has gone to the dark side and is now doing "cooking competition" and/or "cooking reality" shows ... that's when you know that true cooking shows are now dead.

Oh, and I still want to see that piece of shit who ruined Paula Deen's career tarred and feathered.

Only cooking 'game show' I like is Ready, Steady, Cook.

It's competitive like "Whose Line is it Anyway" is competitive.

Goodbye, CurrentTV.

Hello, Al Jazeera America.

(Just now, 3pm, Current TV went off the air and Al Jazeera America, who bought the channel, is now on-air).

As it would turn out, the company I formerly (and sorta still) worked for provides the encoder that provides the captioning.

A small note about this channel... you might be prepared to think "Oh, those damned Arabs)... but give it a chance. What I've seen behind the scenes leads me to believe this is the most objective broadcast news we've had in a long time. They were ripping into Obama yesterday, for example, and you might not expect them to do that.

Give 'em a shot. They're better than you'd think.

Interesting. What's their take on the Egypt situation?

Do they burn the American flag at the end of the broadcast day?

(Hey, *anything* has got to be better than the Al Gore Channel)

Knowing that someone noticed that CurrentV went off the air makes me a sad panda.

Anyway, what *do* they broadcast other than what we "think" they're going to?

1. CurrentTV also used our product, which is why I knew anything about this at all, really. It was kind of interesting, watching the transition from CurrentTV to Al Jazeera.

2. Their take on the Egypt situation, from the bits and pieces I saw, seemed to be that the people are generally not at all happy over there with the instability.
They seem to be upset with Obama for playing both sides, and thus have no respect for him. That's about all I got... the rest was just simply reporting the horror going on over there.

3. They do not burn the American flag at the end of the broadcast day. In fact, many of the journalists you see are American. But they report facts, and editorialize very little, if at all, which is a welcome change from what has become the standard in broadcast journalism today. The caption writers are going to have a hell of a time with the occasional accents you hear, though, as they will interview the source of news, not a pundit.

4. What do they broadcast? Objective news, with little to no editorializing, that should be understandable to the average American (without talking down to us). They emphasized that they are not news-o-tainment, but simply news.
And they seem to cover a variety of types of news from world politics to financial.

And, from what I've seen in the broadcast available to me prior to seeing them go on air, I think they might actually be doing what they claim they're doing. They do not seem concerned about viewership, but about reporting, which is an interesting twist to journalism these days.

I expect, though, that they will need to overcome what their name might mean to most Americans... that the average American might think this is propaganda for Arabs. I don't think it is.

Well... journalism in the United States isn't what it ought to be.

And journalism in the United States ****certainly**** isn't what it ****used**** to be.
There is not one journalist on the air that could "put a patch on the ass" of Walter Cronkite, for all his liberalism.

Or Chet Huntley; or David Brinkley; or many others from that era that come to mind.

These days, when I watch, hear, or read the (liberal) main-stream media in this country "reporting" on news from Washington DC, and am exposed to their "stories" on things by Obama, or Hillary Clinton, or Eric Holder, I keep asking the same question:

What would you idiots be doing if the name were RICHARD NIXON? Or GEORGE W. BUSH?
Everyone reading this *knows* the answer: they'd be throwing an unholy shit fit. For weeks. Just like that idiot Piers Morgan and his endless diatribe on gun control, or whatever his pet (liberal) peeve is *this* week.

When the news media stopped *reporting* news and started their uniquely liberal tendency to *spin* the news and in many cases actually *make* the news, they completely lost any possible hint of validity as ****journalists****. They don't even have the integrity to identify what they do for what it is: editorialism. At least *that* would be *honest*, which is another thing the US "news" media has, by and large, ceased to be.

Long-time folks here already know my take on journalism in the United States, I should hope. I take a dim view of it, as I do not feel it is balanced.

I don't necessarily think it's liberal or conservative, so much as news-o-tainment.
And I'm not interested in being entertained with the news as much as being informed.

I worked at a television station, one of the directors would say, "The news is entertainment to sell
commercials." It is true.
