I just remembered this hysterical scene from Absolutely Fabulous.

It's the scene where you get to see Adina's mother give birth to her.

You see an artist painting, someone reading poetry, someone else playing beatnik music or something, and she's dressed in some outrageous artsy-fartsy outfit, spewing on about this vile parasite inside her, and how she can't wait to be rid of it.

For me, the funniest part is when the baby finally comes out, and she frantically yells "Cut the cord! Cut the cord!"

Cracks me up every time, thinking of it.

And, of course, those infamous words, "Take it away, and bring me another lover."

I think I'm watching an episode of Star Trek: Atlantis.

they're just outright stealing plots: aliens have transcended their bodies and live as pur energy.
geez

Star Trek stole that from other sources, too - it was nothing new then.

oh, speaking of, I saw an episode of battlestar galactia.
I think it's playing like a soap opera so you have to follow the plot, and since I haven't seen any others, I didn't get much of it, but the captain guy, they've got that character perfect.
The actor is vaguely familiar, but his overall demeanor and expression and wisdom really makes him fun to watch.

Watched part of the BSG miniseries. Too gritty for me; definitely substituting shoot-em-up action and hate-the-Cylons moments for an interesting premise.

What happened to Boomer?

who cares he was annoying.
sci fi isn't what it used to be.
this is a soap opera in space, get used to it, because that's all they make now.
But they have better effects so the explosions look cool.

Until you realize that an explosion in space wouldn't actually look like that due to lack of atmosphere/oxygen.

you could argue that one of those really big tankers if filled with air (which they wouldn't be) might make for a bit of an explosion, plus there's got to be compressed air tanks in there somewhere...

I remember seeing a lot of commercials for L. Ron Hubbard's DIANETICS in the 80's. At the time, I had no idea what the fuck it ment.

OK, I've seen the dianetics commercials but I've always thought that they were more commercials for religion/cult than for a book -- the book was anciliary to the religion. Kinda like the Mormons offering their book/bible on TV. But this commercial was for ... a suspense novel.
