I was watching the game when it happened.. Artest was literally lying on the scorers table trying to stay out of things when he got hit in the face with the beer cup full of beer.

Agreed, Freakdog. While I don't care much for Artest, Jackson, et. al going into the stands, Artest wasn't the cause of this. From what it looks like on the video, it looks like the fan that he hits first is telling him he did it, then you have at least two fans who are hitting the players from behind. The fan that was decked by Artest and O'Neal on the court totally deserved what he got as well. They'll be some suspensions, but kicked out of the NBA? Hardly. They did what anyone else would have done if the situation was reversed.

Yeah, it's funny that Artest wasn't even the cause of this brawl, and he was lying on the scorer's table, waiting for the fracas to die down. Ben Wallace threw a towel at him, he got back up, laid back down, then the fan hit him with a full beverage cup. Then all hell broke loose. I hope the find the fan that threw the chair, though. That mofo needs to be locked up big-time.

"Sports entertainment" (it ain't sports, people) is big business. They won't kick any of their cash cows out of the league.

Always remember: "We treat star athletes better because they're better people!"

The Score had a lawyer on this morning, who seemed to think there were 3 major lawsuits possible at least. The first against Artest, for choosing to go into the stands AND assaulting (in a premeditated fashion) an uninvolved party. The second against O'Neal (for punching the dude in the Pistons jersey - don't think there's much there. dude went on the court and had an asskicking coming, but lawyer brought up proportionality of response)

The big jackpot, this dude though, was a class action against the Pistons, the Palace, the NBA, etc, etc. for failing to provide adequate security.

Yeah, the guy on the court is lucky that O'Neal slipped with that punch. O'Neal might have seriously did some damage to him. You come out on the court, you deserve what you get.

OKay, Michigan didn't look good today... but because Iowa managed to kick some cheesehead asses they will still get to go to the Rose Bowl. Looks like there were quite a few upsets today.

Just saw all the brawling on TV. I don't know why everyone is so surprised.
They're just a bunch of overpayed jocks; why shouldn't they act like the unsophisticated goons they are every once in a while?

Artest gets banned for the rest of the year, others also sanctioned. Good, now he can have all the time off he needs to promote his rap album. ;)

I don't expect Artest's season-ending suspension to last for the rest of the season. I forsee the NBA Players Association stepping in for him, as well as Stephen Jackson and Jermaine O'Neal.

There was a good article that was passed on to me (different computer - I don't have the link) that compared what the NBA should do versus the top leagues in soccer. The year-long ban on Artest was on his list, the next should be the Pistons' having fans banned the next time the Pacers come into town.

How strong is the PA in the NBA? Because as I understand it, all appeals are heard by Stern. Who is the one who instituted these penalties in the first place.

GW: He'll hear the appeal, but if need be, the PA will take him to court. That's what they did with Sprewell, so he could recover some of the money he lost after he was suspended for choking PJ Carlissimo. That's why Artest's regular season suspension won't hold up. The PA will make sure of that, especially since Artest has already let everyone know that his suspension isn't fair and it's too harsh.

Chris Chelios, who had agreed to a contract with the AHL Chicago Wolves, now will not skate until the NHL season is officially canceled.

GO BEVO!!!

UT upset the Aggies 26 - 13. Unless I'm wrong, which I rarely admit, this is the sixth consecutive year UT has won over the Aggies in this annual Thanksgiving matchup between the two. UT is a second-half team but overall it was a damn good game.

I wouldn't call the #5 team in the nation beating the #22 team in the nation an "upset", but that's just me.
