Heh... well, they're still playing it in North Carolina... sounds rediculously warm there too.

I'm rooting for the Oilers as well. I feel like I'm back in the time when they beat the Islanders in the 80's. All my friends were Islanders fans.. I rooted for the Oilers just to be contrary. That and that Gretzky kid seemed to have some potential. While I ended up a Rangers fan I still remember back to the Oilers with a smile.

I'd like to see them get theirs too... but, you know, it's The Canes... And I'm in Canadia, so gotta go for the Canadian team (regardless of the balance of the Canadian players... heh)

I don't usually follow hockey, but I can root for NC's team, the Hurricanes.

I think it's somehow fitting for _Ice_ hockey to end the week summer officially begins with the championship being won by a team located where most ice is only found in refrigerators year 'round. ;)

Well, congrats to Rod Brind'amour, Mark Recchi, and the rest of the Hurricanes...that was a good game (what I saw of it, after watching the Phillies beat the Yankees).

Huh. Rod Brind'amour. Mark Recchi. I'm getting serious Flyers echoes from the past. But wait....The Flyers' GM makes deals out of his anus. So yeah, guess it's logical. ;)

Even Justin Williams, who was such a positive on the Flyers during his rookie year, is on that team now.

I am really glad for Brindy.  It's been a long time in the comming.  Recchi's just hanging on for the ride (didn't he start the year with Pittsburgh?)  It will be interesting to see how Williams' career ends up.  I liked him as a Flyer.

I'm going to be doing the color commentary for Friday's Minnesota Lightning game. It's an audio webcast at 7PM CST, if anyone would care to hear me stumble through it (the normal color guy is going to do play-by-play because the normal play-by-play person is going to be unavailable), the direct link will be http://65.37.200.36:8000/thunder.m3u (or go to blueskysoccer.com and find the link for the webcast). They're playing Cincinatti.

Personally, I think the FBI will be called in when they find out a referee is actually going to comment on the game. I think there's a national law about the minimum amount of ignorance and idiocy required by soccer commentators in this country. God forbit someone actually knows the Laws when they talk about the game...

Looks like I got bumped. :( I *might* still be on it, maybe moved to play-by-play (god help us all), but they found the missing color commentator (head coach for the Gophers women's team).

I ended up doing play-by-play for today's game against Fort Wayne. Due to a problem (I think it's because the other headset was put on mute, which muted mine as well), the second half didn't get recorded. The bummer of it was that I felt like I finally was comfortable doing "play" in the second half.

You can get the first half here: http://feline.interactivetheatre.org/webcasts/20060702_Lightning_vs_Ft_Wayne.m p3

With me is Mikki Denney Wright, head coach of the Minnesota Gophers' Women's Team.
