I knew Kody from UW last fall... he dropped out of school to ride bulls.
And he's damn good at it.

I see Mr. Bonds is going for his 3rd knee surgery. Pretty soon he'll be able to set off metal detectors everywhere.

Ok. I ran across this story on another board, but I think it's hilarious. The title? "Unknown LSU student enters NBA draft".

A great read. :)

Subject: Re: the NBA Playoffs

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I don't want to come off as some sort of conspiracy kook here but I am yet again witnessing a thing that happens year after year. It is my firm conviction that once the games reach the actual "playoff" stage they are choreographed much as so called professional wrestling matches are, in this sense; the winner of a particular game is a predetermined agreement between all parties involved, right down to the coaches and players. It is entertainment after all. I don't have sore thoughts that our local Spurs lost against the Pistons tonight. None whatsoever. What pisses me off is the obvious throwing of the game and then the obligatory follow-up media session full of apologies and "we coulda done this, we shoulda done that" rhetoric. It's all BS! I told my dad before this game even started that the Spurs would allow themselves to lose (in order to keep the series going to the last and final game) because the financial players simply do not want to refund prepaid revenue collected from ticketholders if there was an early championship win. And that doesn't even take into cosideration the concession revenue. (I personally was under the clear impression that Spurs management issued a directive or order of somesort to keep the game close and thus "hair-raising" for the fans, but to let the opposing team win so the series (and revenue) could continue. This is a consistent pattern in NBA playoffs. I was right. And Dad admitted it. Tim Duncan *never* misses a freethrow he wants to make. He was simply throwing at the rim tonight and it was painfully obvious. Also, Gernobli is no bungling fool with the ball. His constant turnovers must have been ordered from above. There is just no other explanation. I'm really not a Spurs fan... I couldn't give a Rat's Ass who wins the NBA "World Championship" (although curiously enough, no other countries are invited to compete in the series) it just seems the playoffs are inevitably choreographed to certain outcomes ahead of time. To me (and I speak for me and no-one else) that is an insult.

Duncan also was missing free throw in game 5 and the Spurs actually won that game (I guess Horry was not in the meetings)

Let's say that the league actually wanted to make this happen, they haven't done a good job of it.  This is the first game 7 of a finals in 11 years.  If it's solely the Spurs wanting to make this happen, look what happened to Miami after they let it go to 7.  I even remember Miami players saying before game 6 that they didn't mind if it would go to game 7 because they had home court.  You see what good that did Miami.

In this day & age of reporters, whistle blowers, and people with axes to grind, I donít see how a fix could get by unreported.  And if itís for ratings, how did it come to be the Pistons/Spurs what people mostly were saying was their least favorite matchup?

You're insane if you think it's fixed. This is the first time since 1994 that the NBA championship has gone to game 7. If it was fixed, it would happen all the time.

There's too much money at stake (in potential endorsement deals) for any team to willingly take a fall in a championship.

Your team lost. Get over it.

Sports is a business. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised to learn that *all* games are fixed in order to maximize the revenue they generate.

Yeah, it's a business where victory is often rewarded with insane endorsement deals. How much do you think you'd have to pay a guy to give up his shot at Michael Jordan type money?

Good example. Scott Norwood missed easy kicks all year long. I knew he'd miss that last one before he lined up to kick it.

That's no fix - it's a shitty kicker.

Actually if you look really hard at the moon landing, Norwood can bee seen in the shot.

Once again Fox television subordinated my nightly dose of Simpsons (as the Mon. NFL season kicked off) to a measly, boring, chicken-feed 17 - 10 game between the Redskins & Steelers. HO FUCKING HUM! I'd have rather had my Simpsons re-run, or jeeze, at least Family Guy or Futurama, or something. Anything but a "sleep-fest" of a game like that. "Good thing I had the sense to change the channel in the 1st quarter so I have no sense what I'm talking about!" "Other than it was boring!"
