I just found a link to this place on my provider's website.  I haven't been on a bbs in years!  I'm a big sci-fi and trek fan.  Looks like there are some others on here as well.

Hope it's ok I mention that I just setup a site for amateur authors to post their stories and discuss.  It's at http://www.hollymagazine.com  If you do visit the site please make any comments you wish, good or bad, I'd appreciate it.

I didn't come here to advertise so I hope I didn't make anyone mad :)  I'll be back, being on a bbs again is nice!

Welcome, holly. Any relation to the character from Red Dwarf?

Thanks! Yeah I've been looking through the forums. The bbs's I was on a long time ago were mostly files and games, but it looks like mostly chat in here which is nice. Different than what I was used to :)
I'm mostly a fan of sci-fi novels and of the original Star Trek. Those were my favorites. I like some Heinlein books and like to try out newer authors.

Holly isn't really my name, just use it for stuff. My provider made my site and it seems to be working ok. It's www.novalink.us, a friend of a friend pointed me there.

Thanks again for the welcome!

started reading 'the kraken wakes' by john wyndham which has proven interesting... so far. skimming amazon.com's reviews provides a mix of love/hate, so am hesitant about putting the effort in.

I also secured dark tower book 4 (wizard and glass I think), really looking forward to cracking that baby open

I never liked Firefly much. My favorite is Stargate SG 1.

Yeah - it was the sequel to the original D&D movie from 2000.  It was ok - but a little slow....

Sci Fi being what it is, I'm sure there will be run a few more times.  ;-)

The D&D movie we watched on the Sci-Fi channel last Saturday night was fun, but yeah, a little slow. But fun. :-)

The fourth and final season of Blakes 7 is due out in April. I've been watching it again lately, and realized that there's so much I like about it, because it's counter-intuitive to traditional sci-fi:

Federation is bad
The heros are criminals
The heros are also generally unlikable
The heros all die and the bad guys win

Darn. Stanislaw Lem has died.

I was going to post some of his superb poetry (superbly translated by
Michael Kandel), but this guy on Slashdot did it better...
