Geez, the whole thing is just collapsing faster than ever.

Liberal democrat communists John Hitler Boehner and Mitch Hitler McConnell just have Barack Hitler Obama permission to offshore the few remaining American jobs to China.

We seriously need to nuke Washington and start this country over.

Ever since installing Windows on my laptop I've had a defeatist attitude towards pretty much everything. When I said "nuke Washington" I meant *both* of them.

Exactly. Microsoft is the single most oppressive regime of all time, but the statists in DC have a much shorter path to the top of the reporting structure.

I wonder if I'm sufficiently far enough away from DC to avoid the aforementioned nuke.

Some of the same people that supported state's rights over federal laws for legalizing marijuana support federal
laws over state's rights on marriage.

Funny thing about that. Neither of them realize that the inarguably correct policy is for the government to have absolutely nothing to do with either.

If the government has absolutely nothing to do with marriage, everyone loses the benefits marriage currently confers.

So, no tax breaks, no concept of legally transferring items over to the spouse upon the death of the spouse's spouse, etc, without having to go through a lot of paperwork, etc.

Although some people like to quibble over the words, so call them all domestic partnerships and everyone should be happy.

What that tells us is that the government is already too wrapped up in those benefits. One should be able to set up those tax and inheritance and other legal structures without the government getting involved in your relationship.

Then you go ahead and marry whoever you want without having to worry about it being "recognized" by anyone because it's totally a civil affair. Bottom line here is that the government has been way too involved from the beginning, and the statists are savoring this moment of dividing people into camps that hate each other. We shouldn't hate people who have different kinds of relationships than we do; we should all hate the government together.

Put another way, I am supportive of the legalization of gay marriage but the way they legalized it doesn't go far ENOUGH.

The debate has always been framed in terms of what rights the government gives to whom. That is the frame of referenced used by communist socialist Hitler-equivalents. The debate *needs* to be framed in terms of what rights the government STOPS TAKING AWAY.

Put yet another way: all the people who said that "the government needs to get out of our bedrooms" -- nothing has changed; they're still there and they still need to get out.

So what the government should do is simple - REPLACE "marriage" with notarized/filed Domestic Partnership Agreements, and make *those* the required instrument for tax benefits and social programs.

End of problem.
Government out of the "marriage business."
Benefits preserved.

okay, now that we solved that how soon before the shit hits the fan? It has to happen soon, and it seems to be
moving quicker.

With all this shit going on in America and the rest of the world it really has to get here quickly. At least I
hope, I am sick of waiting for it.

Hm, Yes it went sort of like that.

Well it sure does look that way, but you're basically calling attention to two inappropriate focuses. The government has no business policing war memorabilia, and it has no business policing marriage. In both cases, the government's job is to GET. THE. FUCK. OUT.
