One of the major problems with any significant reform to our Constitution is that it would require a series of amendments or a new Constitutional convention. If the latter happens, all bets are off as to what could happen. But given the state of
public awareness of political issues, I can't see anything good possibly coming from monkeying about with the fundamental structure.

That's the problem. If the Constitution gets replaced, it's going to get replaced with something FAR WORSE, not better. It's the 21st century and patriots are a dying breed; the commies almost outnumber us and between cheating and media bias they can outvote us (which is why America finally lost the Cold War on November 4, 2008). Nah, we lost the war when Reagan said "Tear down this wall.", it lead people to believe communism was dead, a
false sense of security.

I know many of you are not overly fond of Facebook. I know I'm not fond of Facebook in the least.

But here is something truly worthy of your attention, respect and admiration:

There really ought to be a giant American flag on the top of that thing.

Or -- even better -- a giant foot with its bottom facing Mecca. (I was orignally going to say "middle finger" but let's go with something that's insulting to muslims rather than something that's insulting to humans.)

Only took 12 years

What else do you expect in a city run by the likes of Bloomberg - probably preoccupied doing important things like trying to regulate the maximum size of a Slurpee instead of aiding in the speedy completion of a project which should have, at most, taken 4 years, not nine.

Too much time was spent worrying about how to "honor the victims." The best thing we could have done to "honor the victims" would have been to haul the original plans back out and immediately start putting the original towers back up, ten stories higher. And then nuke Mecca, of course. The message should have been "this is what happens when you f**k with America." Instead, the terrorists won.

Bah. Even the government cannot distract me from penises.

Although a penis could easily distract me from the government. That isn't really difficult, though. Could be hard, but not difficult.

There is an old adage about how it would be appropriate to change the symbol of the democratic party from a donkey to a condom because it stands for inflation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a false sense of security while you're being screwed.

Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyone's relief, it was confirmed that the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu.

The cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts. However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the bird's beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car. MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills.

Ornithological Behaviorist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. The conclusion was that while all the lookout crows could say "Cah", none could say "Truck."

this is interesting, I'm not sure of the context, but I'd guess he's trying to make a point about recent interventionism in Libya and, say, Syria, or whatever, and how it might play into the hands of some of the shari'a extremists.

ESR is usually a pretty reasonable guy but this time he seems a little inane. So OK, we topple Gaddafi and maybe pave the way for some other shari'a nutjobs to take over. None of that changes the fact that Gaddafi was responsible for the deaths of westerners, at one time pursued a nuclear arsenal, and sponsored terrorism. I am not really an "interventionist", but I see the logic for interventionism: at what point do you just say this guy's an asshole, we'll be happy to take our chances with *anyone* other than him. So really the case for interventionism, at least in the example of Libya, was not very complicated nor did it need to be: intervene because fuck that guy. And because you have the opportunity to wipe him off the map with minimal western casualties.

In Syria? We've definitely got the "fuck that guy" part all sewn up, it's the "minimal western casualties" that I'm not so sure of...

When "anyone other than him" happens to be Al-Qaeda (sooper seekrit: *both* sides are Al-Qaeda) it's hard to justify giving guns to the same people who inflicted thousands of American casualties on September 11 (tm).

I have a very dim view of the whole thing. It's all savages vs. more savages, if we bombed them into the stone age it would actually be *progress* for that culture.

Really, we lost this war when we didn't nuke someone on 2001sep12. If the message is anything other than "*This* is what happens when you mess with the USA" then the terrorists win. We sat around and acted like pussies, and the terrorists won. They established the culture of fear that they wanted, they do pretty much whatever they want and know that we will sit on our thumbs, and the whole area is going unstable faster than you can say "high oil prices."

Like I said, I'm unconvinced on full-scale intervention... however, fully 50% of the reasons why we're arming the rebels (in particular, more "moderate" groups like the FSA) are the same-old US/Russia geopolitical shell game. We haven't seen this in a while actually... Iraq I wasn't like this, Iraq II wasn't like this, Libya wasn't like this... but now we have a proxy war again, because of Syria's historical alliance with the Soviets. (The Assad regime is an ostensibly-socialist dictatorship.) So Cold War II I guess. If all goes well, after all is said and done, the least-worst guys end up in charge (FSA seems to be less worse than ISIS/Al-Nusra.)
