I'm still not sure if this is enjoyable or not.  but damn. it's geeky and cool.  Music, made from samples of a hard drive failing.

Okay, this is probably very obscure, but I wonder if someone might, possibly, be able to suggest something to me.

I'd like to find a quality recording of the album 'Mirror Stars' by The Fabulous Poodles. This was an LP (a pink vinyl album) released in 1978, which I used to own, but the years have since cause me to no longer have it.

You may think WTF, but perhaps this link may jog a potential memory:

For some reason, I'm in the mood to listen to some of those songs, but I don't know how to acquire them.

Surely you have stores that sell old records?

we have one not to far from me, I'll take a look-see for you there, but if it's really obscure, then I'll have to try a record fair for you, either way, I'll see what I can find

It wouldn't help... I can't play an LP anymore.

I would need for it to be transferred to a digital format or something.

That would be great, Potter, if you do happen upon it.

I don't know if I'm up for trying to get a turntable, and this specific album, just for this music.  I liked it, but I'd rather find it already recorded if possible.

But, y'know, now that I think of it, it's interesting that this stuff is so hard to find.  I wonder if I could get a copy of it from the Library of Congress?  And if not, I wonder if anyone has thought to try to keep this stuff around somewhere.

Can someone explain to me how Madonna danced with Gorillaz on the Grammys, for those of us who didn't get to see the actual show - I understand she walked AROUND the computer-generated characters on live TV?? Huh??

This is both sad and interesting.

I bet there's a lot of music like this... music disappearing because it didn't quite capture the attention other albums caught.

Oh, thanks for digging that up.  I haven't downloaded it yet (because it's four megs, and I have to go to work soon).  That's fairly impressive, though, to find such an obscure thing.

Most music goes out of print eventually. If the demand is just a few a year, the label isn't going to get new pressings. Sometimes the original label isn't even in business anymore. But, if the label IS still in business, they will often have some copies that they will sell you directly.

Oh, I realize this.

Actually, all art has a shelf-life, after a fashion. Even Michaelangelo's David will eventually be no more.

It's just kind of mind-boggling, sometimes, to consider it.

Survivor's in it's ... what.... 8th go-round now?
HHow about Big Brother? How long did that last? And how is that considered
"reality"?
American Idle... I won't even go there.

I hate most reality shows, but American Idol (at least once they get through their initial auditions), is interesting, maybe because I play piano I'm always curious to see who thinks they can sing. :)
