I may have to give The Mar's Volta album a listen.

I've always enjoyed marriages of styles.

Have you guys checked out Ween's "The Mollusk" album? Different-sounding
music, but it uses the mix of styles thing to great effect: everything's
good on its own and it hangs together for form a coherent whole.

Like really good counterpoint? Where the melodies stand on their own, but also work together?

Mr.T will be ecstatic to know that he has managed to insert a worm into my brain.

I haven't heard it. But: fleeb, have you listened to any turntablism? I'd be
surprised if you didn't at least find some value in the rythm structures.

I am fascinated by some of the interesting rythms some of those guys come up with. They can get rather intricate.

But so many rap songs are a thin veneer of music wrapping a strongly accented, nastily worded diatribe degrading people. You have to pick and choose carefully to find the good stuff.

Really cool Web app that lets you place fingers on a guitar fretboard and
it tells you what chord it is:

Cool even though I sometimes wish "web app" was an oxymoron.
