i saw "sunshine". it made me wish i'd never seen "event horizon". it was like what event horizon would have been like if it weren't such a goddamn piece of shit. but the thing is, you need to step back and think about the genre. 2001 was a movie about a bunch of people trapped in space who get picked off. sad to say it that way, but there it is. sunshine was no 2001.

Cool - think I'll pick that one up this weekend then.

Timothy Dalton - he really hasn't done too much since Bond, eh?  I did enjoy him in 'The Living Daylights'.

Thu 02 Aug 2007 12:07:54 AM EDT from athos-mn@uncnsrd

I saw it - if you liked Shaun of the Dead, you'll like Hot Fuzz: same writers, same principal cast (both of which include Nick Pegg). Very british, very gory (although comic in nature and telegraphed well in advance), and you get to see something really icky happy to Timothy Dalton.
I've never been a Bond fan.  TD was the only reason I even saw the Living Daylights because I always had the hots for him after "Jane Eyre".

Jurassic Park Jumps the Shark

It’s official. The “Jurassic Park” franchise is as good as extinct.

Bloody-Disgusting has revealed some plot speculation for the fourth film.

From Bloody-Disgusting:

Universal Pictures has officially begun casting for Jurassic Park IV, which will film in Kauai, Hawaii later this year! Laura Dern confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Ellie Sattler here as Sam Neill will NOT return. We’re told that the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes.

This is dangerously close to Dr. Evil’s “sharks with frickin’ laser beams attached to their heads.”

The only way I can see this working is if they cast Snakes on a Plane veteran Samuel Jackson opposite Laura Dern, and fully embrace the cheese.

Howard Stern’s Porky’s gets a Green Light?
- Howard Stern has been hard at work on a remake of the cult teen comedy film Porky’s. Last week Stern took a vacation from his daily Sirius Satellite Radio Show and worked on the film project which the Shock Jock now claims is “ready to go.”

I saw starlight or stardust, something like that the other night.
Appanretly it was based on a book.
It had the harry potter feel where they tried to shove too much book into one movie.
But if you like the "willow" kind of fantasy, you'll like this.

Well, the latest Hollywood movie gossip is that Katie Holmes might be the next Wonder Woman. It just gotme to thinking - which actresses would you think would fit that role?

I was thinking perhaps Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock From The Sun), as Wonder Woman is an Amazon, which are tall ladies. I was also thinking Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy), but she's too short. Also was Jessica Alba (Dark Angel) but she's also too short. I'm not sure who else - perhaps Catherine Zeta-Jones, but for that role, she (imho) might be a little old?

flynn- it was a joke.

Sooooo, in my plea to my friends one of the things I requested in the matter of help whle I recuperate was for them to come and rescue Noodle for me. As an only chld with an active mom, she's used to constantly being on the go- and has been since birth. i don't want her getting bored beccause I can't do anything.

So one of my assistant GS leaders is coming to pick her up today and take her to the new Bratz movie. How lovely! Not only do I not have to pay for this movie, but I don't even have to SEE it!!!!

Here's a question for all of us:

What movie would you pay $20 NOT to see (ie you hated it bad)?

What movie would you pay $50 NOT to see (ie you hated it REALLY bad)?

What movie would you pay $100 NOT to see (ie you put out a contract on the cast of the movie - you really, really, really, really hated it!!)?

What movie is so bad yet you can't help but watch the whole thing when it is on TV?

For me:

 a) Howard The Duck

 b) Titanic

 c) The Sound of Music

 d) The Running Man
