Any movie would be better with explosions. Even the ones that have
explosions would be better with *more* explosions.
not sure if it helped with the scarlet letter
Hmm... a helicopter crashing on The Queen of Nice...
NOW YOU'RE TALKING.
I'd pay good money to see that.
I rather thought it was a perfectly designed movie moment, because it had me hysterical when I first saw it, and I played it over and over and over.
I think what makes that car chase so wonderful is that it's really not hollywooded that much.
If it were hollywood, then every single crash would have resulted in an explosion.
Plus the fact that they were real 1970's and 60's cars when they hit they really hit.
I love the scene where they make apoint of showing that he's putting on his lap belt. That was funny.
They must have gone through a bunch of elenors because both hits on the front left and right would have easily wrecked the sterring and suspension as to make the car undrivable.
Also I noticed the scene with the jump his windhshield was in one piece where as it had been cracked badly and shot at, but these are trifles.
That is how car chases should be done.
RE: Blood Diamond
Ford - I'll say it was well-done, and the plot was fairly interesting.
The violence was very very real and quite upsetting.
Plus the main character talked just like my sicko ex-bf and was just as arrogant.
although my sicko ex-bf wasn't nearly as attractive or intelligent.
though i have to say my friend and i would often tease our spanish friend about the brutality of the spaniards, and it was nice to see that in full form.
so in other words, i say it was "ok" but that's much better than most movies i see.
i did have a comparison for it having recently seen tideland, which was also escapist fantasy. tideland was much more complicated though, which is something i really like in a movie.
nadia is a tough critic. probably was expecting something mindblowingly profound... people seem to like this one, I keep hearing the topic come up...
but really, some of it comes from the facts that critics loved it, and that needs some balance. (and i got this chip on my shoulder that they hated tideland, so much so that it couldn't get a distributor, and i thought that was a better movie)
nadia loved waterworld, too.
la la la...
