There's nothing quite like four-part harmony to truly do justice to the fruity goodness that is Starburst.

heh, my sister thought it was `Mama don't take my soda foam away'

My scan picked up on this message and I didn't remember what was before it but before I figured it out the first thing that came to my mind was Bob Dylan.

Huh. Which Dylan did you hear it as?
I'm assuming it was Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel singing about their shiny new camera.

BOB Dylan. I specified that in the earlier post. I was thinking it was a line out of Knocking on Heaven's Door.

Sorry, I meant to ask which work of Dylan's. :)
The process of trying to figure out what the original was given only the mishearing is really interesting to me. What line were you thinking of?

There is no line in "Knock, Knock, Knocking on Heaven's Door" that sounds like "momma, please don't take my coat of chrome away"

And for that matter, Simon & Garfunkel never sung about a "coat of chrome" either. :)

coat of chrome? that's what it says? I thought I thought was something like "mama take this gun off of me/I can't shoot them anymore/getting dark too dark to see/and I feel I'm knocking on heavens door"

Those are the correct lyrics for "Knocking on Heaven's Door" (which has been recorded by a number of different artists, including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Guns & Roses, etc.).

The other song is "Kodachrome" (not "coat of chrome") which is a Simon and Garfunkel tune.

wtf is a Kodachrome? and what is a coat OF chrome supposed to symbolise? and I thought that Dylan wrote Knocking on Heaven's Door.

"Kodachrome is a brand of color transparency film sold by Kodak."

I always understood the song to be referring to a camera intended to use such film, though I'm beginning to think I may have been wrong there. A little research suggests I was also wrong in believing that Art Garfunkel was still working with Paul Simon on the song.

I have no idea what a coat of chrome would be, except a likely mishearing of Kodachrome.

Kodachrome is the optimal color film, a transparancy rather than a negative.
Think "slide" film. Very slow, ASA 25 and 64, but magnificient color rendition and lack of grain. I've seen very good 11"x14" prints from 35mm photos on Kodachrome. 8"x10" are usually excellent. 16"x20" is possible.

When a professional uses a view camera with 8" by 10" kodachrome it will blow your socks off with detail and color saturation. I've done 16x20's off a 2.25" by 2.75" medium format that are astounding.

Kodachrome is perhaps the worlds best color film. The Paul Simon song mentions it in context of travel photography.
