Mine started at 2.7, and hasn't really edged upward, ever.

It's pretty sad that Microsoft now includes a built in suck-o-meter with their operating systems.

I wonder if they somehow count random and sudden, incoherent bursts of keyboard behavior as a negative to the suck-o-meter. You know, the sort of bursts one might associate with beating the hell out of the keyboard with your fists, out of frustration because you're enjoying the Vista Experience.

Man... this Embedded componentization crap is kind of like listening to an endless supply of Musak.

I've been writing more messages lately, to stave off the whole Musak-nature of working with Componentized tools.

It's like copying a file in Vista, except over a wire the size of a light-bulb filiment.

One of the prevailing theories around here is that Windows detects people who can type quickly and accurately, and if it detects this behavior, it sets a registry key that alerts the system "Unix expert at the keyboard" and it dynamically increases its own suckage in an attempt to frustrate the user for spite.

Wait, accurately? All those Unix guys were lazy typists. Can't even spell "create" properly. :)

Correct. But they can quickly type create incorrectly with accurate repeatability.

As many here know, when Ken Thompson was once asked if there were anything he'd change about Unix if he had the chance to start over, his reply was that he'd add an "e" to the creat() system call.

When some folks at Microsoft read that interview they immediately filed a patent for "Method and apparatus for omitting trailing characters from the names of system calls, using a computer." Prior art be damned, they're going to sue!!

Yea I've read that. Ken Thompson's a pretty funny guy :)

"seid nicht so wie der hier ... geht direkt auf unsere seite" ??

Google Translate says that means "Are not like this ... goes directly to our site"

Does that mean someone's web site is subverting direct linkage to an image?

We have an executable here that's most fascinating.

Modified date is in 2005.

Creation date is in 2008.

I don't think we have a 'touch' program in windows... although it probably wouldn't take much to create one.

I just find the whole thing amusing. And a tad confusing.

This is why I prefer to focus on the file version meta-data instead of the date.

I forget but if you copy a file with certain flags you can have created after modified.
