Well... we do pretty much everything in-house as well, due to expense.
And, honestly, I don't think we make terrible GUIs. We just put a little more thought into things.
Then again, we have some good talent here. Maybe that's the difference.
i hate these ui's where you have to click all over the place to find the buttons.
I call them "intuitive", and thats the reason i refuse to use inuitive software.
Of course, you have to know where that 'first place' exists to do it right.
That takes knowing your customer.

Mine started at 2.7, and hasn't really edged upward, ever.
I wonder if they somehow count random and sudden, incoherent bursts of keyboard behavior as a negative to the suck-o-meter. You know, the sort of bursts one might associate with beating the hell out of the keyboard with your fists, out of frustration because you're enjoying the Vista Experience.
Man... this Embedded componentization crap is kind of like listening to an endless supply of Musak.
