Curly - I hope that you'll still be logging in here via the internet.

They do have the internet in Argentina, right?

Why Argentina, for those of us playing at home...

Can anyone here suggest a LIVE CD ISO for Linux, any distro, that will definitely detect a SERIAL mouse even if there is a PS/2 Mouse port present?

Heh, yes, they have the internet in Argentina. If prices continue dropping I'll probably get a 2-way satellite connection but my place is in the hills where only dialup is available otherwise. However cybercafe's in town are only $0.35/hour so I'll be logging in regularly. Argentina may be far away but it's not backwards.

To adequately explain would take many screens, here's the short version:

I believe that the United States is is a death spiral economically, politically and socially. Argentina is basically a European country, 70% Spanish, 30% Italian with a heavy Portugese influence. I'm fluent and love the latin/spanish/italian culture.

The dollar is very strong right now. Argentina went through some terrible times recently and is on the mend. There are many old vacation chalets deterioriating from neglect that can be remodeled and resold for income.

I also need a career change. Argentina is larger than California and Texas combined with many fewer citizens than California alone and half are in the Buenos Aires province. The area I'm going to is near the 2nd largest town, Cordoba, which is 500 years old and has a history of education and universities. A perfect climate, self-sufficient, good food and wine.

Plus I'm over 6,000 miles away from the Bush family.

Puppies are cute when they do that.

Well, as long as the puppy didn't tinkle on the keyboard, anyhow.

No, but he tinkled on the quilt my mom made this morning. So he's in jail for a while.

Been there, done that.

Beagle still piddles on the bed, from time to time, if nobody lets him out in a timely fashion.
