I made a new beer discovery today. I found a beer from the UK called
"Blackwych Spell-binding Stout". Probably the only beer I've ever found
that has a pentacle on the label. (Although there IS this beer from
Quebec called "Maudite" and has Satan on the label, complete with a group
of pioneers canoeing into Hell Meatloaf-style...mmm 8% alc/vol!).

ObLiterature:

Still reading "Neverwhere" by Gaiman. Also reading "Insomnia" by Stephen
King.

I've had Maudite. It's not bad at all. My regular beer of choice out here is Arrogant Bastard Ale, from a brewery in San Diego. Just over 7%, very hoppy, with a nicely-drawn demon on the bottle, along with a great write-up on the back describing the beer.

I reading "Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Caged Whale Sings" by Christopher
Moore, and like everything else I've read by him, so far it's excellent.

Just had some Scottish ale from Carolina Brewing in Mooresville, above Charlotte. Fairly good. I've been using Drambuie for cough medicine lately.

I was digging through some boxes the other day and discovered that we do in fact still possess C.S. Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy (Black Sun Rising, When True Night Falls, and Crown of Shadows). Very good fantasy. I wish she wrote more; we own everything she's published, to my knowledge, but I'd thought we had lended this out never to return.

Just finished off the Sam Adams Octoberfest. Budget is very tight, but I want a Sheaf Stout...

I just checked out "The Ringworld Throne", but I haven't started reading it yet.  Is it best to read the original "Ringworld" first?

So Fluke was great. Not as insane and funny as his other stuff, but still
kicking a solid amount of ass.

Aahz, if you liked Fluke and haven't read any of his other stuff, I suggest
doing so. "Lamb" is a great one.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, they can sell it year round. Same deal for the winter ales shortly to be appearing. =)

I had thought that was the case. I've been thru the A-B brewery in Williamsburg. Nice tour.
