Gratz again, girthta. I'm actually pretty excited for you.
When is the new RAM coming in, anyway?
*the machine crawls to girthta, begging for mercy*
girthta, I believe you're missing the wireless tools.
you can do apt-cache search wireless to get the right package name,
and then do sudo apt-get install for them.
Actually, I got it to work but thanks. It's just a little different getting to the same tools in ubuntu than in *shiver* that other OS.
I have some consulting work to do today but will otherwise try to order that RAM. Before I do that I can't do much else as it seems youtube and everything else still chokes considerably. Even interwebs radio through rythmbox is having issues.
The dongle on my bluetooth keyboard/mouse was recognized, though. The scrollwheel on the mouse doesn't work but I saw a fix for that in the ubie forums. I'll fix that when I have time, too.
Would be nice if my husband truly appreciated the high geekery we have now sitting nonchalently in our living room.
If your husband *doesn't* appreciate it, but just enjoys the results, it's far more awesome.
When non-geeks are not even aware of the elegance and power behind what is going on, you have a true work of art.
Someone ought to tell Harry about this :)
And like a number of other ways, too.
What does this mean and how do I fix it?
rar command (for vobsub compression)
This is in dvd::rip settings. I dunno what "rar" means???
OK, here's the thing. I want to rip DVDs and I'm having a seriously hard time figuring it all out. I just want to copy a dvd to another dvd so when I put the copy in the computer it will act just like the native dvd. Is that asking too much???
Does anyone know how, in plain enflich I can do that? I have k9copy and DVD::rip but I'm just missing something here...
I've never tried to do that.
I would be more inclined to leave it on the computer, but I suppose that might require gobs of hard-drive space that you may not have.
