That's very South Park ...
George Orwell, it ain't.
umm... It is 1980.
Ford, I'm shocked at you. What, no love for the 1984? :p
I doubt that even the oldest of old-skool among us were not online in 1980.
umm...huh? Idid not understand that sentence. I have been online in one form or another since 1973...maybe earlier. I used to steal passwords and accounts for the University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin and log on those systems. played spacewar, star trek, and messed around on xtalk.
I couldn't read in 1980 - I was 2 started bbsing around '86,
only used bitnet in '88
Damn punkass kid.
A lot of those times are a blurr now so it's hard to say.
Early 80's for me, although I can't remember the exact year. I was in high school, and you could purchase a 300 baud modem for about $200.
(I'm getting the impression that this trick doesn't work anymore.)
me just had some 300 bucks for a box dialing in via ISDN... You could see that it almost always instantly reconnected after the other side closed the connection...
Then you have IG. The exception to the rule.
