Subject: Monon Trail

That'll be cool. I wish they'd extend it north of 146th St. The unpaved portion extends up to Frankfort. Of course, as long as I'm dreaming, I wouldn't mind having a dedicated bike route to the Castleton Mall. Nothing quite as satisfying as laughing my way past a gridlocked swarm of cars. >:)

Of course, unless the bike path was made into an underground (or overhead) tunnel, it would cause even MORE automotive gridlock...

So who all here enjoys local music? If you like metal, punk, and alternative Opiate and Downbreed are two bands you should check out.

I heard recently from a patient that Clarion has built a monorail to connect it with Riley and IU. I haven't seen it yet.

Funny you should mention that Kat, I saw a little mention that in the newsgroup misc.transport.urban-transit last night.

I'd love to see some light rail transit in Indy. I know there has been lots of talk about a rail line from Downtown to Fishers and/or Noblesville...but in this case I'm also thinking a line from the airport to Downtown (Circle Centre, perhaps) as another idea. However, knowing as I do that IndyGo pretty much sucks, I don't expect it to happen any time soon.

Cat, when I was home over break they ran a test car. I saw it at 16th & Senate just by Methodist on a Sunday morning. I was headed to church, which is at 16th and Delaware.

Personally, I think the monorail looks unsightly. It cuts right over Crispus Attucks and zig zags all along some properties. From the street, when you are driving, you just see these big posts. At some places there aren't that many barriers. I foresee some people sliding off the road in icy weather and smacking right into one of those steel-enforced concrete suckers.

WS: There has been talk, and there is a study going on to see about doing light rail from the Airport to Downtown, and then from Downtown to Castleton/Fishers.

There is a computer show this weekend, it is down at the fairgrounds.
The only issue is, it is a Blue Star Production. Several years ago, Bear, Powerstar, ChuckE, and myself went to this, and it wasn't good. They may have gotten better.

Just an FYI.

Just to let you know.. Game Times (currently in the Greenwood Park Mall) is moving at the end of December. The mall has made some deal for a new store to come in and is taking over 4 spaces and Game Times is in the way. Game Times will re-open it's doors January 1st at 640 S. Madison Ave. This is across from Greenwood Middle School. Anyone familiar with the south side where U.S. 31 and Madison meet up with Smith Valley Rd. There is a CVS on 31, behind them is a Roscoe's Taco place and a small strip mall. That is where it will be.

Yi...sorry to hear about the move...tho, I'll admit I'm happy..fewer and fewer reasons for me to ever go into Greenwood Park Mall again.

When I was starting to walk, I went to the Green Park Mall every day. It was too cold to walk outside. Now it has been 2 years, and I really don't miss it.

Two computer shows this weekend. One is the Train & Computer show at the fair grounds. It is usually intersting, and doesn't have the same vendors we usually see around here.

That said, the bigger of the two is the AGI show, which is over at the Armory off Holt road north of Kentucky Ave. This is down by my house.

Anyone interested?

I might be, but I also might just be interesting in sleeping in at home, and generally lazing about. :-)
