Subject: MIGR import attempt.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

steps: stopped citadel, moved the citadel directory to a new name, went into the same citadel-7.61 directory that I used to build my current citadel server.  Ran make install, cd'ed to new citadel directory, ran setup, only adding sysop/password. followed by:

./sendcommand MIGR import <../citadel.24aug09/dump.xml
sendcommand: started (pid=2051) running in citadel
Attaching to server...
citadel Citadel server ready.
Authenticated as an internal program.
MIGR import
400 sock it to me

(this laster about 3 sec.)

select failed: 4citadel:/usr/local/citadel #

The PID's never changed for citserver, /var/log/mail gave no indication of error

 1994 ?        Ss     0:00 /usr/local/citadel//citserver -d -h/usr/local/citadel/ -x7 -lmail
 1995 ?        Sl     0:00 /usr/local/citadel//citserver -d -h/usr/local/citadel/ -x7 -lmail

Let me know what you would like next.

davew began work on a "single user mode" for that purpose. I don't know how thorough its implementation is.

Great, look forward to it.

I don't have any HDMI equipment, but I think a lot of people have problems like that, regardless of equipment vendor.

I'm not sure what room the above messages is suposed to be in, but it's ending up in my aide room.  In the past, when a message came from a room that didn't exist, the room name was in the address....

btw, you keep on posting several messages to the citadel support room, maybe your message queue has some hickup?

Loop zapper is working, I'm not seeing duplicate messages here. hmm.  Any sugestions?

Just a note, we're planing a major cleanup at the castle realm. When the next major citadel release comes out (or sooner if it's warranted) We're going to start w/ a clean build. In the meantime I'm going to start purging networked rooms that are not being used by the current guests.

Please make sure to shoot me an email with the list of rooms that you're purging, so that I can stop sharing them with you, on this end.

Otherwise, your Aide room will be flooded with unwanted network traffic.

For the Realm, most likely.  I may be putting up another instanace of citserver w/ the PDA and Outlook client tied ins. Seperate of the realm, and most likely w/o webcit   This will be strictly mail handleing, no networked rooms, unless specifically asked for on an individual user basis, which I doubt will happen. Calendaring service and LDAP auth will be the make/break on this one.  Would I be better off avoiding easy install with this setup?

To be honest, I can't think of any reason why you'd want to manually build the sources when Easy Install is available. Unless of course you were a developer working on the project, in which case you'd work from svn anyway.

Easy Install **is** a compiled-from-source build ... fully automated so you can't mess it up. And it's updated more frequently than the published sources.

I belive I didn't go down the easy install path to start with becuase I tried to use LDAP, or was it to run two Cit's on the same box??... there was some reason.

You can run multiple Citadels on the same box with Easy Install ... you just have to twiddle the startup scripts a bit. No big deal.

LDAP is supported with Easy Install, as long as your openldap development libraries are already online.

Are you changing the nodename, too, or leaving that be?

I'll change the nodename.  The root servers seem to have updated, DNS from my office is resolving.  I'll go ahead and change the nodename  this evening after dinner so you'll have this message to give you a heads-up. :)

The room used to be called "I want my DSL"...Now it's called "I want
my broadband everything"

There's your problem -- it's now called "I Want Broadband Everything" (no "my" in the name)

room configuration editing is busted in 7.60 webcit.. looks like i need to drop to command prompt to edit this one....

Yes, a few arrive every day.

So basically there is most likely something completely foobared (sorry IG) w/ my system.  How possible is it to dump the message base except for e-mails, and users, and start a "new" session?  Are the db maintanance tools up to the task of fighting the good fight?

While setting up LDAP properly might be a challange, I'm suspecting my biggest hurdels will be seting up and testing Bynari and funambol.  Has anyone put together comprehensive documentaion to together for these?
