This is funny for all your sbc employees out there.
I guess it's even funnier for me because the registration system he's talking about is my system: MPS. :-)
as for verison not billing you, that's their problem not yours.
They probably know it because I'm sure 200,000 other customers aren't getting billed either.
If it was car orlife insurnace, I'd worry, but if it's a utility like water or phone or electric, they're not going to turn it off anytime soon. They'll beg you to remain their customer and call you incessantly before they drop your service.

Qwest was just out here. They said something was wrong in a junction box down the street. Now I'm training at 1536 / 736, and the guy said he was going to go into the CO on Monday and see what was still wrong with the signal, that it was still too attenuated coming out of there. Sweet!

What kind of DSL equipment are you using, that you can get query it for the actual line rate?

The Actiontec GT701-WG (POS) gives you the line rate under WAN Status in the web interface. The Cisco 678 gives it to you with "show interface wan0".

My old Telocity DSL modem showed the rates linespeed rates, too.

Hm, this thing also has a telnet interface, which I've never used. And probably never will. Heh.

I've got the standard old Westell DMT bridge. Plug it in and turn it on, and watch the blinkylights.

Someday I hope the price of the Cisco ADSL WIC comes waaaaaay down. I'd love to use a 2524 as my DSL connection.

I thought aahz was purchasing a Cisco 2524 for UCG?

Aahz has spent quite enough supporting our efforts. Upgrading to a 2524 would really just be a geek toy project for me.

Besides, the router isn't all that expensive (coupla hundred bucks used on eBay). It's the ADSL card that's expensive.

Thanks for volunteering how I should spend my money N*S.. <GRIN> I think I'll just spend it on fun things for myself and taunt you with them.

aahz, there aren't many things you could spend on yourself that you'd be able to taunt me with. <evil smirk>

I just want to say that Qwest DSL technical support is comprised of a bunch of complete idiots. Not that I don't have the occasional brain fart, like failing to pick up the phone to check for audible noise, but this goes beyond ridiculous. I just spent 15 minutes arguing with one of those morons trying to tell me my problem is with my computer. Oh, I should mention, the incredibly slow DSL speeds are back. So I call them up, and the fool keeps hinting around like "the trouble is past the DSL modem." No, it is NOT my computer, dumbass!
So I hang up, and pick up the phone and listen, and what do I hear but a bunch of static and humming! Someone's on their way out to get it fixed today.

Sure, the problem is past the DSL modem... exactly which end, however, needs to be established.
