They may be going by insurance rules when they say the car was completely destroyed. If it costs more to repair than the current market value of the car, most, if not all, insurance companies will declare it a total loss.

If I'm reading the compu-translate correctly, the gates had already come down at the crossing and the cop drove into the crossing anyway?

Should have won a Darwin award...

A few years ago I went on a rant about the coolest bit of technology I'd seen in a long time.
My $100 car stereo that had a ipod controller, an aux in, a usb port an sd card slot and a cd/data cd player.
So fucking cool was this radio that you could RIP CDs from the cdplayer to the usb stick or sd card. For $100. Oh and it did bluetooth for hands free phone conversations. And had a remote.

Well fast forward to this year, I'm not sure I've outdone myself, but this $120 monster is pretty impressive too.
It plays DVDs in widescreen HD.

As such it can play anything you can shove onto a DVD, mp3's (8 gigs worth) or a movie or pile of movies in mpeg format. It's got a video out so you can plug in an external monitor (for the back seat for example) and a video IN so you can plu a camcorder into it to use as an external monitor.
And the bluetooth connection allows it to get audio from whatever source (like my phone) so I can play content on my phone through my car speakers.
This shit is banannas.

I'd love a link for both.

I have had a Pioneer headunit in my SUV for four years or more now that I love. It's clean, has few stupid flashy effects, iPod cable in the glove box, etc.

Anyway I think the coupling capacitors between preamp and poweramp are going. It's sounding wonky lately. Might need a replacement soon.

Might also put it up in the ADVRider flea market...
or Rocky Mtn Flea Market:

its probably a descent source for spare parts, but most probably the chassis isn't straight anymore..

I once had a replacement engine from a Kadet (similar to pontiac) that had skidded on a railroad crossing... the car didn't look bad or such, just two flat tires and some blobs but the chassis was that much bent that it wouldn't go straight anymore.

The engine ran real good ;-)

then I quit car driving.

OK... last time I'm posting this here before going to teh craigslist and newspaper

For Sale:

*1981 Suzuki GS750
  *Modded pipes
  *"wind jammer" front-end
*Needs work (stator, regulator (rectifier), and battery)

AS-IS: $1,000
(meaning you take it as it is, not running well or at all)

Fixed: $2,000
(meaning I fix the stator, regulator, and battery, and get it running)

The stipulation on the whole thing is: I can't deliver it outside of the Rapid City, SD area, so most of the UCG crew would have to take a trip if you want it.

If I don't have any takers from here, I'll be posting it elsewhere.

Just thought I'd give you guys first shot if you wanted it.

Car looks repairable but the article says it was completely destroyed? For a car that's been hit by a train, it looks to be in pretty decent condition (compared with most other cars I've seen).

Heh. The $100 stereo is great, I bought two of them. One for my car and another as a birthday present for my dad (I installed it on their boat).

Tell us what model DVD player you got, maybe I'll put one in our minivan.

This post has been brought to you by The Association For Advancement Of Comma Splices.

whew. there was a stack of plastic tubes for construction works und the highway bridge of the a57 northern of cologne.

somebody set them on fire last nite.

black smoke have zero sight for the motorists, about a dozend cars & trucks crashed, 1 died.

due to the temparature the reinforced concrete bursted in several places; they were afraid of the bridge colapsing, so they had to pull off the crashed vehicles off from thehigway by belts & pushing by hand.

maybe it was just a dropped cigarette... an expansive one.

The car dvd player thing is: Product Image
Boss BV7945B In-Dash 3.6" LCD w/ DVD, CD, MP3, USB, & Bluetooth

I put it in my gti, and 2 days later when I took the car out for the first time with the new radio, the timing chain snapped. So I have about 10 minutes of actual experience with this radio.
I took it back out before I sold the car, but I don't see buying another car any time soon so I expect it will be sitting in a box for a long time.

You should write an online review that says that. "Installed this product and two days later the car's timing chain snapped. Do not buy this product it will destroy your engine!"

That's sad :( If there's one thing I know about VWs, it's that you change the timing belt and water pump every 60k miles or bad things happen, heh.

So, my attempts to sell my 1981 Suzuki GS750L have all failed.

Does anyone know where I can get a Stator, Regulator, and Battery for that bike for CHEAP? The cheapest I've found for the set is close to $300 before shipping
