Heh, turn off the NO2 first!

Didn't think I needed to give directions not to stick your beak, or other appendage, up the tailpipe... Use your _hand_, let the exhaust flow over your hand for a few seconds then smell the hand, not the actual exhaust gasses.

Come to think of it buring alcohol might be a good way to depilate those pesky nose hairs.

A bad tank of gas, with water, can linger for a long time unless you use top oil and resembles an electrical misfire when using fuel injection. That's why I asked about the smell. If unburnt fuel is exiting then the problem is definitely electrical, if not it can be a sticky injection valve, bad gas, plugged fuel filter, a vacuum leak, EGR valve or other fuel chain component.

Unburnt fuel could also be a stuck exhaust valve....

But Ford said his issue is after rain, so it's 99.99% likely to be an electrical problem.

yeah, that's where I was going. only after it rains. and it sits for at least a day.

Friend just back from Guandong, China brought me up to date on the technology.
Seems like there is a common interface specification per the gobvernment with many manufacturers of one-lung engines and transmissions.

Independent fabricators pick a trans and an engine them build a vehicle around them, usually 3-wheeled, and sell. Many of the engines are multi-fuel but all share the same mounting pads, connection to the trans, etc.

And there are _lots_ of them. In the town (I forget the name) there are 5 million people, a mid-sized town, but the air is so foul that few venture out without masks. In the summer it's just unbearable from heat and humidity but winters are accompanied by air so foul that people pass out on the street.

Interesting living conditions too but that's another room. Imagine running your room on a the power from a single pair of conductors 2.5mm in diameter.
That's about 10 gauge. For an entire building of 3-4 floors.

That sounds like a fire waiting to happen. Or REALLY dim lights.
Or both.

Power is protected with circuit breakers and they use flourescent lighting.
The trick is that they just use a lot less power than we do, no electric toasters, waffle irons, hair dryers, hair irons, garbage disposals, vacuum cleaners, space heaters, etc.

I dunno. you don't see what actually made the car flip like that. Doesn't seem likely, but probably not impossible. physics is funny that way.

at such low speed too? i don't see how it could be real.

It's a front wheel drive and the way it was dented, it's entirely possible that the right front wheel climbed the wall or the gate.

isn't it hard to do that at low speed? i knwo she was accelerating, but it was still slow

if you notice at the beginning of the video when shes first turning the corner, the car jerks a bit, a lot like somebody who doesn't know how to drive stick.
So being in first gear, you have a lot of power, having the wheel turned a lot makes the car roll, momentum and all that, and being a minivan/suv is a lot more topheavy... it's not impossible to imagine.

i thought she just drove like my mother. but yeah, come to think of it, a more common explanation is someone who doesn't know how to drive stick. i thought for some reason it was in europe though. i thought people there were born knowing how to drive stick. though perhaps she just didn't know how to drive, which could explain the steering part too.

Yea definitely looks like they wre struggling to get in gear, and that could explain why they were not in control in the turn.

maybe it was a driving lesson gone wrong, because the instructor forgot to show up.

But it really is a good idea.

Question for y'all.
Friend of mine wants me to teach him to drive stick.
Anywhere you can think of in the tristate area where I might be able to find a stnadard shift to rent? pickup or car.
Worst case I think he's willing to buy a cheap throwaway for a few hundred bucks.
I suppose exotic cars are an option, but an expensive one...
ideas?
