Ford: you're absolutely correct; $64/barrel is a price based on market speculation.
If it were strictly supply and demand, the current price of oil would be about $35/barrel.

Whatever a 'stable' market price might be the Bush family, and cronies, are prospering from artificially induced turmoil in the oil markets.

I feel vindicated

After years about bitching about the goofy ABS on my subaru WRX, I get a letter from subaru today saying basicallyt hat so many people complained about the ABS on this car that they're offering a free fix for it.
it's not a recall because it's not a safety issue, but so many people complained about it, they're going to replace the abs computer for free.
HA. it wasn't just me.

That's great!

I had a 2001 Outback a while back.  It was a great car, but the clutch was a big disappointment.  I admit that I used the car like a 4x4 truck, climbing mountains in the desert, but just about every time I had bumpy climb I'd end up barely clearing the top with the clutch slipping and smoking, trying to keep the revs down but trying to keep moving.

I really missed a two speed transfer case.

Down on the southside of town it jumped $0.68 in a day. It went from $2.51 to $3.199 in just the cheap stuff. Anonymous called and said the truck stops on the southside are down to $2.90 or so.

The highest we saw was $3.35 and that was before leaving Chicago. Most of them along our route down here were between $2.97 and $3.09 although we did see some odd $3.19 prices. Fortunately, I got 35-40mpg the entire way from Chicago to Texas. It's $2.81 down here now, and in College Station it's $2.89 (we're in Bryan where it seems to be a bit cheaper.)
