(30 cents for voicemail checking? Hell, find the local number, and dial that, I suppose...but the taxes can be ridiculous. On my bill, being an SBC employee and getting the breaks I get, the taxes are still over $8, without taxes on LD calls...you can thank the Fed and state for those, though)

(However, if it's extras, over and above the quoted base charge, you really can't gripe about being charged for the extras, IMO...your choice to have them)

(Well yeah, i know that... that's still nearly $15 for taxes even with the two little extras.)

(But you can't blame the telco for the taxes...you can only complain to your legislators)

(But I can blame them for sending me a bill that it's nearly impossible to figure out what charges are what... local service including taxes are lumped into one category... long distance and taxes are lumped into another category, then there are more federal taxes lumped on top of that. One would think there would be one charge for $43.95 but they don't write the bills simply of course. Bleah. And of course there are apparently $10 credits somewhere according to them... I don't see the credits appearing on the statement unless I'm blind.)

(Taxes should be listed, with the charges, but still separately. The taxes and surcharges are broken out, though, even if they're together with the parts...local, LD, etc)...it's really not that difficult to add it all up.

Keep in mind...I'm a sysadmin, not in billing, so I'm not involved in that lot, at all. However, I've had to deal with phone bills for 20 years, between various phone companies, and in various states. Maybe I'm just used to reading them. <G>)

Gripes to having a really bad headache this morning, I'm hoping soon the medicine I took will kick in but so far it doesn't seem to be doing much.

Gripes, the headache is because I have a sinus infection. (Well, the good news is at least I know why it won't go away... the bad news is it just won't go away. Blah.)

Mystee: Visit a herbalist. Western medicine will only load you up with antibiotics which have been proven to double the incidence of breast cancer in women. Snorting a saline solution helps too.

(terrorist> I'm not getting in a debate over herbals vs. western medicine.
I will however say that most herbals have not been tested enough by the FDA to determine whether they are realy effective or even safe. And I will also mention I work in a pharmacy so I've done my homework. Some of the newer antibiotics concern me. This one does not, it's been around for a long time.
And I have tried the nasal saline sprays... sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. You'd be hard pressed to convince me that western medicine doesn't work, considering my background. :) Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going to have to stick to what I know works. Besides, there's the whole being allergic to daisies thing which basically rules out echinacea goldenseal and most other things which might help with immunity/colds etc... and most of the herbals are not recommended for people with asthma, which I also have. And there is not enough research done on these to know how even the ones they think might be safe will interact with the asthma meds I have to take. I'm not mixing herbs and western medicine.)

Not saline _spray_ but saline _flush_, big difference.

Yeah, I know Western medicine works in many ways but it's not always the optimal choice, we have to keep our minds open and make informed decisions.
Many prescription drugs arose from herbal remedies.

Oh, yeah, that's something new I havent tried yet, one of the pharmacists I work with has recommended it highly... if I can catch it in time I may try the saline flush next time I have this problem. :)

Termites!

In the ground, not in the house, but now, just before close of escrow, we find out. Luckily no wood damage but I did tear a wall off the house to be sure.
