*laugh* ok... you like apples too, but then what? :P
Sorry what Spanish I've learned is because my mother teaches it and we've always had foreign exchange students. However, I've never taken a class in it myself... Only barely remember the basics ;)

I remember more Spanish than Tagalog, I'm much better at Icelandic and Latin, at least those two I can fumble through most conversations well enough...
understanding more than I can formulate a reply too... but I'm hoping to change that with Icelandic...

I never have... I've learned bits of Spanish, French and German from listening to my mom over the years... Tagalog from living in the Philippines. Japanese from taking a two-weeks of Japanese in high school... my mother speaks 7 languages fluently... I have no clue how she keeps them all straight

Well, there are enough similarities between a lot of languages to make it easy to get the gist of a language if you know a similar one. :) I know a bit of Spanish, and that makes it fairly easy for me to translate French.

YEah, I know....I'm a freak. ;)

Actually that would be correct for languages that are similar... Spanish and French are romantic langugages... similar word bases... it's pretty easy to get the gist of things that you read when you know the bases... harder to translate what you hear though...

likewise with germanic, and scandinavian languages... it's easier for me to translate norwegian because I know Icelandic

it's interesting though that most countries have some sort of language board for the official acceptance of new words and terminology... in English we just accept the word from it's original language per se... so it's such a conglomeration...

True....I suppose I should have clarified.....I can translate WRITTEN French. :)

Mostly, anyway. :)

well yes... I was assuming that's what you meant... just saying you aren't a freak... well at least not for that reason ;)

Actually that's why I took latin to learn the "bases" ... trying to boost my SAT scores... kinda silly that I started taking Latin in 8th grades to boost my SAT scores for the 10th grade

I said, "I like apples too, want a kiss?"

The translation loses it's humorous value.
