Actually I did that just yesterday. The burger was juicy enough that it had started to make the heel a bit on the soggy side, so I turned the whole sandwich upside down to keep it from falling apart.

(Yes this was a home cooked burger ... fast food burgers have no hope of ever being that juicy.)

Letting the burgers--or any meat for that matter--rest a few minutes before plating can help reduce the mess-factor.

now I'm hungry. There are half-decent burgers at the mall. Do I have the time to spend on going to the mall...?

That's true, Spell.  But on the other hand, part of enjoying a particularly good burger is that accompanying drippy mess that signals it's amazing nature.

Same reason why truly wonderful artichokes with hollandaise sauce must be eaten will always result in messy fingers.

For what it's worth Wikipedia says this..

On May 9, 2011, Alton Brown announced via his Twitter that he is "retiring" the show after 249 episodes,

Right. And when I read that I realized that I had already stopped watching the show. Good Eats really was a different kind of show -- it worked for me because it taught how food "works" rather than just demonstrating the execution of recipes like most other cooking shows did. But it ran its course and he probably should have shut it down a few seasons earlier.

Unfortunately most of what's left on Food Network is garbage. I really have no interest in cake baking contest reality shows. I want to learn how to improve my *cooking* kung fu.

Have you looked at the Cooking Channel, IG? I can't give you much info as I've not watched many programs there, but given the channel title, there may be more honest cooking info to be found there.

I looked at it a little bit ... so far it seems like the "B-side" of Food Network.

theres a german saying "Scheisse zu Gold" aka "convert shit into gold"

this image effectively shows what sausages are about:

put into the meat chopper what you usualy would throw away or feed the dog with, make sausages from it and sell them for more money than good meat would have been sold for.

Apparently, liking the taste of Werther's Original candies makes one an "old person." I didn't know that. I've loved these candies since I was half my current age.

I don't understand that either, I like them.  I saw this Halloween Candy code, they labeled Werther's as "old people" candy.
http://www.cockeyed.com/archive/candy_code/candy_code.html

Werther's makes a candy with a liquid center that are even better than the orginal.

I've got a (now almost empty) two pound bag of them in my desk drawer. :)

heh. I'd say I loved them from being a kid.

Right now we've got a semi-public bonbon-pool with a piggy bank next to it.

I'm one of those responsible for filling it, and these are definitely a good deal.

You were three times your age when you were half your age.. So you were old then too.

That "candy code" is from Sacramento ... where kids should not go trick or treating -- I know there's a notorious child molester who lives there

I thought said notorious child molester actually lived out of the country now.

When I was a child we used to use some codes similar to these in McKinney, TX (El Dorado housing district).

There were 200+ houses and the first round of kids (around 5:50 - 6PM) would go through and mark the houses. My parents didn't take us until around 7pm, so by then most, if not all, of the houses were marked. My parents always wondered how I only got candy and everyone else's kids got random crap.

He made a big deal about how he was leaving the country but he ended up moving back and forth quite a lot. Dunno what he's up to now, and I can't say that I really care as long as he doesn't show up here (which he attempted to do a couple of years ago under a badly disguised fake identity).

Anyway I sure do loves me some o' them Werthers Originals !! :)
