I looked at it a little bit ... so far it seems like the "B-side" of Food Network.

theres a german saying "Scheisse zu Gold" aka "convert shit into gold"

this image effectively shows what sausages are about:

put into the meat chopper what you usualy would throw away or feed the dog with, make sausages from it and sell them for more money than good meat would have been sold for.

Apparently, liking the taste of Werther's Original candies makes one an "old person." I didn't know that. I've loved these candies since I was half my current age.

I don't understand that either, I like them.  I saw this Halloween Candy code, they labeled Werther's as "old people" candy.
http://www.cockeyed.com/archive/candy_code/candy_code.html

Werther's makes a candy with a liquid center that are even better than the orginal.

Hmm.

I've got a (now almost empty) two pound bag of them in my desk drawer. :)

heh. I'd say I loved them from being a kid.

Right now we've got a semi-public bonbon-pool with a piggy bank next to it.

I'm one of those responsible for filling it, and these are definitely a good deal.

You were three times your age when you were half your age.. So you were old then too.

I never remember code but I do remember the old guy on the corner who always gave out apples.

That "candy code" is from Sacramento ... where kids should not go trick or treating -- I know there's a notorious child molester who lives there

<big stupid grin>

I thought said notorious child molester actually lived out of the country now.

When I was a child we used to use some codes similar to these in McKinney, TX (El Dorado housing district).

There were 200+ houses and the first round of kids (around 5:50 - 6PM) would go through and mark the houses. My parents didn't take us until around 7pm, so by then most, if not all, of the houses were marked. My parents always wondered how I only got candy and everyone else's kids got random crap.

He made a big deal about how he was leaving the country but he ended up moving back and forth quite a lot. Dunno what he's up to now, and I can't say that I really care as long as he doesn't show up here (which he attempted to do a couple of years ago under a badly disguised fake identity).

Anyway I sure do loves me some o' them Werthers Originals !! :)

Now, every time I hear someone talking about pedophiles or child molestors, I instantly remember the music video for Skrillex - Equinox (First of the year)

Last night we made homemade Philly steak sandwiches by shredding up leftover pot roast from a few nights ago. Yum. (No authenticity criticism shall be permitted; my Pennsylvania native wife loved them. And she did a double take when I said "we have to stop at the store to buy hoagie rolls.")

Did she smack you, appropriately, for calling them "Philly steak sandwiches"?;-)

You made pot roast in Philly for authenticity?

No, they have Philadelphia cream cheese on them. That's about as authentic as you can get.

LOL...now, I'm officially afraid. Next, you'll tell me that you chopped up some lox in it, too. ;-)

I lived in Pennsylvania long enough to know that they're simply called "steak sandwiches" or "cheese steaks" there ... but either phrase has a tendency to confuse a portion of the global audience.

And since Pat's still uses "cheez whiz" I consider authenticity to be optional.
