Today I discovered that I like sardines. I ate an entire tin of brisling sardines packed in olive oil. Yum.

That is all.

Wow. You might want to glance at the sodium content of that before eating another entire tin of them.

I'm not concerned about sodium. As long as you have two working kidneys and drink plenty of water, sodium is not an issue. Also, my blood pressure is quite low.

my step-dad would eat sardines all the time... i absolutely hate the smell. I've never eaten them, and probably never will just because of the foul stench that i so vividly remember.

There are a lot of different kinds of fish that are labeled as sardines. I've heard that some of them are downright disgusting.

My fishies of choice are smoked norwegian brisling packed in olive oil. The can is a two-layer configuration (yes, this matters -- it means that the fishies are smaller).

Did I mention my step-dad ate the "Large Bumble Bee Sardines in Mustard" .... one of the smelliest, most disgusting, putrid smell that'll ever haunt your nostrils.

skpacman: the "large" is the problem. The smaller the fish, the milder the taste. When you open a can of sardines you want to see small fish, not pieces of large fish.

And I just finished off another can a few moments ago. Toasted bagel, cream cheese, pieces of red onion, and my favorite smoked brisling sardines packed in olive oil. Gotta get me a few more tins.

I think if they come in mustard, it's a bad sign.

What's good for food that doesn't cause heartburn? Seems like everything I eat is giving me grief. Except tums. They aren't actually food, though.

Oatmeal, grits, cereal, fruit, salads, and Maneschevitz (sic?)

I could go for some oatmeal, that's a good idea. I'm from the North. What's a grit? :)
Maneschevitz? I really don't make a habit of drinking syrup.
