Note to self: obtain a rotisserie.

Hell yeah.  Almost fool proof.  No way to screw up the meat.

My grill has the fittings for one, but the model designed specifically for that grill is super-expensive. I may have to go with a "universal" model.

made a kick-ass roast... the secret though... is that the middle wasn't thawed fully, so didn't get cooked fully..., mmm heaven!

"Not a problem, I'll cook it well-done for you."

Mr. Mel and I found a decent Chinese/Thai restaurant in our town.

We've been looking for such a beast for several years now, and my iPhone pointed me to this place a few weeks ago.  We finally had the time to try it out today, and man, it was wonderful.

Good food, great service, and a good variety of foods to try.

I would never have found this place, normally.  I'd seen their ads and such, but they do a lousy job of presenting themselves... except on their web site.  Their web site pointed out that they have a pair of cooks who have been at it for over 20 years, and studied the culinary arts prior to going into business for themselves.  I figured it was at least worth giving them a chance.

fleeb: sounds like a nice find ... I enjoy Thai food but I still can't find my way around a Thai menu without help from someone who knows the cuisine better than I do.

IG:

I generally rely upon pad thai to be the one thing I could reliably eat on a Thai menu.

This said, I may branch out and try other things on this menu; they do a good job of explaining what each of the items are, rather than merely let you figure it out from the name.

I love Pad Thai. Wish I could make it at home but it's just got way too many ingredients.

Yeah, I made a Pad Thai once, but it is a lot of trouble, and there's enough invoved with it that the stir-frying process becomes very delicate. I'm much better with any other form of stir-fried random... much lower stress involved.

It didn't help that I scaled the recipe up to serve 4 people... that's a lot of Pad Thai, and it becomes un-stir-able.

Anyway, lately my thing is cooking Indian food. I've made some pretty mean curries and vindaloos lately.

It's actually not as hard or as time consuming as I'd been led to believe... actually a pretty simple form of cooking, sometimes. there are some things in particular that are pretty quick, where you can just throw some whole spices in liquids in a blender, make a sauce, and then simmer your protein in the sauce, and you're done.

Chicken Tikka Masala, however, I don't really want to bother with. Have to spice the meat separately from the sauce, cook it on a skewer, and make the sauce separately... actually more work than a vindaloo.
