<laughs> You've definitely made some incredible ice creams.  Though....the white pepper was definitely not for me.

And Girty - the wasabi and ginger ice creams are *awesome*.  Have you tried the green tea?

i like green tea ice cream and red bean ice cream. but those don't sound funny to me (nor does ginger ice cream).

Mmmmm, that white pepper ice cream was AWESOME. (As I recall, I was the instigator, because I wanted it to go with the pears poached in red wine...)

I seem to remember the pears being poached in port... good port actually.. Not red wine. But we could always try to recreate it to be certain. There would need to be duck again though.

Is that the sound of a part brewing?

Or just the sound of wistful post-Passover planning?

I remember the white pepper ice cream.  It wasn't bad.  Very interesting.  I still think it would have been the sort of thing to really surprise someone.

I like Chocolate ice cream, but surprisingly it's hard to find at the local Stop & Poop.

Girty - It's more like wistful reminiscence of a dinner for 3 that will live in infamy.. (And rather expensive too)

Yes, it is. They'll go for weeks without it - every brand no less. Then they buy tons and tons of the stuff. They do that with a lot of products...

sounds like the albertson's i used to live near.

then again, i realize that only certain aspects of that store really sucked. the closest real supermarket to my current location is a bit more interesting. for a while i wasn't actually sure if they sold coke products at all.

You're welcome.

I'm not a fan of spice and ice cream.  I made a ginger ice cream a while back that really didn't make me happy.  My family pretty much turned their noses up at it as well.

Now the caramel ice cream I made a few weeks ago, that was a completely different story.

I could see making a pumpkin ice cream or a sweet potato ice cream with ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. I'm not a big fan of straight ginger, though.

Ponders... ginger ice cream plus raw salmon ice cream plus wasabi ice cream served on a bed of sushi rice...

I've often contemplated the idea of a savory ice cream as part of an entree rather than a dessert.  An ice cream with no sugar, but plenty of spice might make an interesting condiment or side dish in the summer.

I haven't figured out exactly what flavor I would use or what I would serve it with though.

If you're going to make savory ice creams, do what Masaharu Morimoto would do: put fish in it.

*slips back into self-imposed silence* "That was pretty gross tho'!" :^)

I expect an ice cream with little-to-no sweetness and plenty of spice would make a much nicer accompaniment to an extremely sweet pie than most of the ice cream which gets served with pies.
