I could see making a pumpkin ice cream or a sweet potato ice cream with ginger, cinnamon, and cloves. I'm not a big fan of straight ginger, though.
Ponders... ginger ice cream plus raw salmon ice cream plus wasabi ice cream served on a bed of sushi rice...
I've often contemplated the idea of a savory ice cream as part of an entree rather than a dessert. An ice cream with no sugar, but plenty of spice might make an interesting condiment or side dish in the summer.
I haven't figured out exactly what flavor I would use or what I would serve it with though.

I didn't last very long... but IG knew that already.
*slips back into self-imposed silence* "That was pretty gross tho'!" :^)

"Oh, the root alll problems"
I remember seeing that trout ice cream. I still remember watching the episode and they were firing up the ice cream maker and I thought, they're not going to make ICE CREAM with TROUT are they? Oh the tragedy when I saw that's exactly what they were going to do.
I make apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. It works quite well. I think I made the ginger ice cream with peach cobbler.
I'm thinking of maybe a savory basil ice cream or some sort of vegetable.

or pehaps on second thought, "I'd like to pass a bowel!"

Damn it - I'm addicted to Indian food. And it's all your fault, Aahz.
