(quote): I was not able to make that goal and gave up on that goal.

Well ! ... there's your problem. You couldn't have said it better yourself.

"Never give up... ...Mmkay?"

Metformin was absolute hell for me... Think Montezuma's revenge and then some.

This is Kent Brockman reporting...

This just in. We return to the subject of food as breaking reports reveal
that a one "2Dog" concocted an explosively delicious cheeseburger at his own
residence. Reporter Tricia Takanawa on loan from Family Guy fills us in on the details...

"Thank you Kent. This is Tricia Takanawa reporting from the Texas Hill Country. Apparently
a Mr. too Dog has created an explosive cheeseburger and Homeland Security ia already on
the way." "Tricia, is there any information on the construction of this device?" "Well Kent, It is a rather complicated preparation. It seems that he toasted a store bought bun
and then slathered it with mustard. He then applied to the bun fresh onion, tomato and pickled
jalepeno slices." "Dear God! What else?" "It seems he then applied the 1/3lb explosively delicious flame grilled beef patty to it and then
attached a detonator of sharp cheddar cheese." "What is the immediate concern for surrounding residents?" "Well Kent, none at this time. But they are being warned of a possible attack by flatulence
tomorrow morning. This is Tricia Takanawa reporting from Texas."

Had that issue, at first...my wife is on the extended release version, and has never really had much of a problem with it.

These days, I only have that issue if I eat the wrong foods.

Thanks for the reminder, girthta.  I'll keep an eye out for a repeat now that I live in the area.

I had a great conversation last year about the expression "Colder than molasses on a cold day in January".  A speed which is, apparently, fairly high.

though, you know... that might also depend on the temperature of the *molasses*. i imagine cold molasses moves a bit more slowly.

FreakDog - I did talk with my endocrinologist about Metformin and he said No, not yet. He wants me to try and do it with diet and excercise first.

Objectively, it kinda makes sense to give it a try without drugs first, but I must say that I was kinda disappointed.

2Dog - We've created an alternative goal to work up to: Mall walking at least 4 to 5 times a week. So it was not so much giving up on one goal as trading it for another.

What you might not be aware of is that Ginger and I are like tied at the hip, we go together everywhere but the restroom, and sometimes we help each other in there too. But that would be TMI, I am sure.

So instead of walking around the neighborhood, which Ginger is very uncomfortable with, we mall walk. I think that she's scared of getting hit by cars. There are no cars inside the mall. Makes sense.

So No, I am not giving up on the 10000 steps goal so much as restricting said paces to mall walks.

And in rainy Seattle, it is dry inside the covered mall.

Back to food - I have been subsisting on water, juice, and a little bit of apple and a little bit of oatmeal since my sinus surgery this last TUesday the 5th.

Basically anything that can be sipped through a straw and little bits of food that can be squeezed through partially opened lips.

And I have to balance breathing through my mouth with eating and drinking.

Fair enough...I hope that you're able to get things under control the "natural" way.  At least, though, you're aware of options, which probably won't require shots of insulin.

How do you guys make chicken soup? I boiled a spring chicken with some bulion, salt, black pepper, dill, carrots, celery, tomato, potato, and onion (don't have garlic at the moment). I also threw in some pasta, of course. Am I missing anything?

That sounds pretty good, N*S!

I make mine a little differently - celery, carrots, parsnips, leak, dill, and parsley (plus chicken, of course).  If I want carbs with it, I usually add Matzoh Balls.
