Just eBay'd myself a Sunpak Super 383 hot shoe flash for my Lumix Z20.

My kit is nearing completion.

I tend to like night photography.... It's an interesting challenge.

So, what's everyone's favorite subject to shoot?

Gophers and prairie dogs! http://i4.tinypic.com/15fm7o5.jpg

*points at the name of the room*

Or do you mean, you like shooting them after you've shot them?

Well, after some deliberation, I decided to go for a Sigma 24mm F/1.8, and it should be here in about a week :)

Nice.... You're going to love it! Not only do you get some width back, but it's nice and fast. The call it a macro, but it only focuses down to 7 inches or something like that.

They also make a 30mm f1.4, but that is one of their DC lenses (digital cameras only). I don't know if half a stop would make a big difference for you.

Yea I figured you'd have tried that one :) I strongly considered the 30mm and I would really like to have that extra half stop. But in the situations I most would want F/1.4, I also would want more width. So I compromised.
Maybe I'll get the 30mm later. So far I've heard mostly really good things about this lens.

Peter... what camera do you have?? if nikon turn exp comp off in custom settings and you can chande it only by holding the +/- button while you turn the wheel.if canon use the middle on setting

that disables the wheel only for expp comp i believe

Thnaks I don't think I have that setting though. I have a Nikon D50. Anyway it's not a big deal it's just a hazard of having the D50 which only has one wheel. So they got clever and made it so that in manual mode, which is what I use most, the wheel controls shutter speed by default and if you press +/- it switches the wheel to aperture. But if you are in aperture priority mode, which I don't use so much, the wheel is defaulted to aperture, and pressing +/- switches the wheel to exposure comp. So if you use manual mode a lot, which I do, it's easy to accidentally, through force of habit, to change the exposure comp when you don't mean to. So that happened to me a couple of times. The fact that I was actually using the exposure compensation besides, didn't help matters.. since sometimes I WANTED to change it. Anyway it's a minor issue. I think Nikon should have included another button.. but normally it's not a major problem. Usually I'm paying more attention...

If you come to NY some time, there are some people I know who do poi classes and another, more serious group who do fire.

I only like Poi b/c it's associated with REAL juggling ;)

I belong to a juggling club. Sadly, every time I get on a bus, I feel like I'm a barfing sardine, so I've been avoiding them (and therefore, the club)

Ah. I see. OK. Thanks.

For the record, I hate riding busses for the same issue. Not pregnant, of course, but have an extreme dislike of having a stranger impinging on my "personal space".

I take them when I have to. I just avoid activities that require bussing if they're not important to me.

Likewise. I hate driving in downtown Seattle, so when I need to go to Downtown Seattle, I take a bus instead of driving. But I do not enjoy it.

Pete,

That picture is pretty cool, the lens flare works for what you're photographing....
Did you have this bad flare with all of your pics?
