K2NE -- ahh, we (CariNet) currently hosts his websites. The guy is a major technical support idiot too. I hope he doesn't treat his customers like he treats CariNet support.

I should point out that he rarely calls up with problems, which is OK. But when they do happen, he's quite rude.

Vince Q? What sites are his now?

Wow... Vince Q... quite possibly the guy who created the largest Citadel schism, ever, if my memory of Citadel history is correct.

Well, like him or not, quite a few of the things he did, to enhance the user experience in K2NE, have made it into other versions, including the current incarnation of Citadel.

I seem to recall he tried to trademark the word "CitaNet" and then balkanized the Citadel networking community on that basis.

Yeah...there was that. I never quite understood that maneuver.

The first Citadel I logged into was Citadel 2.26 running on someone's Kaypro.

What I saw of K2NE looked nice... I don't really have any criticism of Vince Q (I wasn't engaged in the schism at all, living in a remote place like Japan while it was happening, content to use Citadel-68k, and therefore immune to it all).  But reading about it in Japan made things kind of interesting.

I wasn't paying attention to either Citadel-86 or Citadel-K2NE at the time, but I know that some harsh words were exchanged. I found the phrase "the Minnesota Mafia" particularly amusing.

I wouldn't know either, but considering who was dishing out lawsuit theats, it makes me wonder if the direction of the "mafia" comment was misplaced.

Guess I'd better work on getting 7.02 out, then. :)

I only met him once, and we only briefly talked, so I have no personal issues with him, but from all I heard (and there were reams) about Vince Q, to call him a 'jerk' is like saying the Marianas Trench is 'a pothole.' :)

After many years, stagnated at 6.55, Pixel has been upgraded to 7.01, as well.

Whether or not it continues to run is another subject of conjecture.
