Subject: Citadel - Open Berkeley db by using SQLite and add info when new user

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello

So I've found too many articles where it says you can open Berkeley db by using SQLite but couldn't find a guide.

Could anyone point me to a guide or something?

Also when new user is registering since this is open source app where is code located so I can add new stuff to it?

(Not just some random mushmush I may have mentioned here )

So by using SQLite I want to open database and see changes. For example now all users have to add phone number or something and that it is saved into database.

Any help is welcome

Thanks !

Yes, you're right, that error message from do_template doesn't properly escape the input.

regarding the other reports, I don't think we can do much about them. Copyright headers will have to stay in place ;-)

The host-header in the one report isn't generated by webcit itself - did you use an apache proxy?

if you tick 'Require registration for new users' in the server settings, the user is urged to fill its personal vcard.

However, that doesn't force him to enter a phone number.

You could alter webcits vcard_edit.c to enforce that.

So by using SQLite I want to open database and see changes. For example now all users have to add phone number or something and that it is saved into database.

I haven't used anything else then citadel itself to work on the db files. It also probably only will work when citserver itself is offline.

if you run /usr/sbin/citserver, will it start? (on the console) or will it print errors?

If yes (lock file) does lsof list it?

service citadel start will get you going again.

What version are you running, under which OS (distribution and version) and are there any core dumps available to analyze?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Can someone point me to the release notes of citadel 9.01?

Is it worthwhile to upgrade from 8.24 to 9.01?

Is citadel 9.01 still the newest version?

I have experiment with Citadel for the last year, I would like if
someone can point out documentation on howto setup a global address book

Addition, I would like to setup Global Calendars for all users to see

So by using SQLite I want to open database and see changes. For
example now all users have to add phone number or something and that
it is saved into database.

When using SQLite with Berkeley DB, SQLite manages the schema/RDBMS layer, while Berkeley DB provides the back end storage.

Citadel does not usse SQLite, or any schema layer at all for that matter.
It writes its internal data structures as binary blobs directly into Berkeley DB. This is why it is so efficient and its data store layer is 100% maintenance-free.

Unfortunately a side effect of this design choice is that you cannot manipulate the database using external tools.

there is a setting labeled 'disable self service account creation' which does that.

Subject: how may I.....???

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

How can I build re-usable forms, such as ICS-213 or the ARRL Radiogram and install them on my CITADEL system?  I just installed the Raspberry Pi version, and it works very well on our mesh network.  We only need something simple that will work, most of these messages will not be sent outside our mesh system.  I think this can be done using a room, but I am not experienced enough at Linux to make this happen without a bit of assistance.  Thank you!

currently there are no easy ways of having forms in webcit.

but, there seems to be a tinymce plugin that can do forms:

http://blog.orbeon.com/2012/03/tinymce-control-now-in-form-builder.html

you would have to load tinymce with that configuration:

http://citadel.org/doku.php/documentation:webcit:customize:richedit

but I guess figuring all that out requires some fiddling... mabye AX25 can offer some help?

Is it possible to see if someone has read the mail that is sent out?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

in general, yes, there is a feature of demanding the reader to send a mail back.

However, neither do remotely all clients support this, nor is it sent automatically nor does citadel offer support for this (If you use other clients then webcit, you may use this; i.e. thunderbird knows howto do it)

Subject: ctdlmigrate fails - alternatives?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello,

I want to migrate my citadel server fv9.01 rom an arm-based machine (raspberry-pi) to an intel based - machine citadel v9.01. Unfortunately I cannot just copy the files because the architectures mismatch. I've tried using ctdlmigrate however the current version of ctdlmigrate (in v9.01) is broken. After migrating, all messages are empty with date 1 January 1970.

Is there any other method for migrating over the citadel server?

The software itself is really great. I'm amazed how well citadel runs on my raspberry pi 1B with clamav and spam assassin.
