have you logged in at least once as that user?

Tue Apr 07 2015 16:35:17 EDT from Currerius @ Uncensored

What is intereresting is that now the user is also not found with "sendcommand qdir user".

But a user I added *not* from the admin panel, but by "himself" at the login prompt is recognized as recipient.

Interestingly *no* user (inclusive the admin user) is recognized by "sendcommand qdir admin"

Tue Apr 07 2015 16:31:35 EDT from Currerius @ Uncensored

Thanks, I did so, and the directory got rebuild, but nothing changed.

I got impatient and reinstalled the server from scratch (as I said. I fire up cloud instances for development/testing and when things get messed up I simply kill them, modify the startup scripts and start over).

The problem still persists, so I am right now trying to debug/replicate this behavior. As I noted: it did work all fine on a former instance... IMAPS on 993 is working which I find quite impressive given the fuzz getting courier-imap-ssl to work.

please try running

Yes I have logged in. I tried editing the vcard and saving, putting in some aliases (who do not show up in /etc/citadel/mail.aliases).

It is possible to send webmail from the user. The user is not found with qdir (errorkode 570) - after a fresh ubuntu-EC2-cloudserver (latest release 14.10 with citadel 8.24) even the admin user returns 570 with qdir.

The former user cannot receive mail, while the admin user and another user created by himself at the webcit "create new user" tab are accepted

Note the "moist" is my admin/postmaster. All of them are now found with "sendcommand qdir moist"...

Strange isn't it? With my still limited overview I cannot see any difference between them and also not between the different setups. I always start a current ubuntu-server (either 14.04 LTS or the latest 14.10 and simply do "aptitude install citadel-suite" and voila everything works).

Thanks for your patience,

Yes, the QDIR doesn't look up mail aliases. So you i.e. shouldn't find postmaster, though its there.

Did you change the domain names of your system during creating / editing your users?

Can you inspect their vcard in the global addressbook as aide user?

Subject: Error with Evolution

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Citadel 8.24, Evolution 3.12.11, receiving the following error:

The reported error was "Error fetching new messages: missing closing ')' on fetch response".

When started from command line:

Failed to refresh folder 'email@address: INBOX': Error performing NOOP: missing closing ')' on fetch response

Server is Ubuntu 14.04 on Digital Ocean (easyinstall), client is Arch running Gnome 3.14

I wasn't sure to report here or to Evolution, but this seemed lower traffic. I really don't  want to go back to postfix, so any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks for the great work!

Hi Experts,

My citadel is not dying. Of course it is a vague statement, but lot many issues with the box.

So decided to repair the installation to normal settings.

Is there any document to reinstall the entire setup including webcit.

I dont want loose userid's and mail boxes running on that box.

Your speedy help is highly helpful for me.

Thanks in advance

are you able to reproduce this every time? If yes, can you disable TLS and capture the traffic?

Its hard to say what the exact issue could be with this.

see http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:mastering_your_os:net_sniff#exploring.the.communication.from.your.citadel.server for details.

if you want to copy the datafiles over to the new machine, you need to have the same architecture on the target machine and the same or newer berkeley db.

No the hostname did not change.

I could reproduce that creating the user from by the admins panel leads to rejection of incoming SMTP, but any user created by the user himself on webkit is accepted. The vcards and everything in webcit seems to be equal.

I am not sure how to do that -> "Can you inspect their vcard in the global addressbook as aide user?"

After loggin in to the citadel-client on the server with the admin account the help command got me to the Global Addressbook with 3 new messages.

I have attached my out.pcap from tcpdump -ns0 -w - It happens with all email accounts, but this is my main one, only with a temp password. I did notice several incorrect checksums when I didn't redirect the output. The capture is from Evolution launch until I receive the error, then close Evolution, and stop the capture. Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

If move the citadel installation dump to other machine with new and high specs (Virtual Machine) will that work?

If it is not, how could I move achieve this?

And any plans for releasing the product for Windows?

as noted below, your target VM needs to have the same architecture. So if your old machine was a 32bit intel machine the new also has to be.

the migrate tool should work across architecture boundaries.

And any plans for releasing the product for Windows?

 no.

I'm trying to do a smtp mail client to send some reports automaticaly, my server is a vmware Citadel Server virtual machine, i have no trouble sending using outlook or thunderbird but if i try to use the visual basic .net smtp client the response of the server is that i have to be logged in to send the message, i have tested it with another mail servers like google or linux without any trouble, only the citadel server is rejecting the auth, i don't know if i need to change something to the server.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Interestingly, the error only occurs with IMAP, it works great with POP. Hopefully that will give a clue, but in the meantime, at least I can use Evolution again! Thanks!

you need to do exactly that to send mail from your domain. Make the client to smtp auth.

Or, you send from another random domain.
