Hi, I am wondering if anyone else here has tried to install the citadel 8.24 packages on k/ubuntu 14.10?

The client and webcit installed but the server fails without any indication why. I am wondering if I should persist and try to figure out why it's not installing or am I pushing it my trying to install on a pre-release of Ubuntu?

it could be that it fails to start citserver due to some strange reason.

it will work if you just run the /usr/lib/citadel-server/setup alone - so some minor breakage.

Subject: error when try to send email

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hello all

Im user of vtiger and Citadel, both systems works great except in one step:

when in vtiger I define a schedule report, (functionality for send a report automatically in some defined date) the email never arrive to the recipient, and I only see in sent email folder in from email this:

message you sent could not be delivered to some or all of its recipients.
The following addresses were undeliverable:

user@domain.com: <@hawk233>: no local part
otheruser@domain2.com: 5.5.2 Syntax error. wa16si13995556icb.86 - gsmtp

what I can see is the @hawk233 mean part of the name of my server

I have been spend about one month trying to fix it without success, last week I try to install postfix for replace citadel but Vtiger work very bad with this, then I go back and I need somebody's expert help

Thanks in advance.

I'm rocky in citadel configuration, then I'll appretiate your patience

Francisco

Thu Sep 04 2014 14:31:22 EDT from wduchene @ Uncensored Subject: BinkD, fidonet?

I've been Googling quite a bit, and can't seem to find any solution - but is there a work around, howto, or means of exchanging messages between something like binkd and citadel? I'd like to try out citadel with fidonet and am stopped short at the message conversion.

I also am interested in that (It was one of the reasons I decided to start using citadel) and conversion between the two is indeed what needs to done.  The possible interface via NNTP bring some possibilities if/when that becomes available. In the mean time I'd thought to try using ifmail/iftoss (from ifgate, which is in Debian) but I've had need to investigate other issues so haven't had a chance yet.

And while that's still not working;  the BBS program I've been using for years (because it's always had a usable web interface) has a mailing list interface availble for the conferences, and I'm experimenting with that.

(if not an imap bridge is available on the fidonet side)

I'd be most interested in how that is or was done?

I don't know which protocols you've got available on the fidonet side.If Imap, or POP3 is on the list, imapcopy or fetchmail may be viable alternatives.

Subject: Disable outside SMTP Relay?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I recently got through as disastrous ASSP proxy server install. It was a train wreck, and too buggy for use. But, one thing I did appreciate about ASSP was the ability to disable any attempts to relay mail from an outside source.

But, I had to disable ASSP.

So as of now, when port 25 is forwarded from our public IP to our internal NAT'd Citadel box, any outside source could potentially guess a user account and password, and spam the world, causing the IP to be RBL'd.

Is there anyway to disable this by limiting the ability to relay mail to the internet from only internal subnets?

Good Day

I work at a transport company and we have recently installed a new mail server with citadel software, the system works fine however, the 503 service unavailable error keeps giving us down time every few days.

all services have been checked on the centos terminal and are running but for some reason we still cannot access our email or the online user interface which when not available does not allow our emails to work

any assistance will be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Samuel

For some reason, after installing citadel it worked quite well for some time, then for no apparent reason, vanished!

it quite literally vanished, i am the only user, and in this case nobody had access to the pi's login. The strange thing is that when i try launching citadel i get this error:

Attaching to server...

Can't connect: no such file or directory

nope, its not possible to disable relaying.

You have to lean on your users not to loose their passwords. However, in reality, this happenes, and counter measures have to be taken: http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:spam:recover

I guess a read-only mail system wouldn't be that usefull?

You can however rate limit the outbound SMTP queue, or use iptables to limit the number of connection attempts to your server.

the information you provide is a little sparse. Whats the additional error message of the 503? which version do you use? Do you use apache/nginx proxy? ...

Did you check all services are running? (and not restarting)

http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:mastering_your_os:ps#checking.what.services.are.running

and are providing the services

http://citadel.org/doku.php/faq:mastering_your_os:net#networking

and no error information can be found in the syslog?

Thanks for your help, i figured out that it was a system fault and not a problem with citadel, turns out the system DID delete it. oddly enough whAtever storage daemon didnt throw any errors or warnings untill the whole system started blowing up, a quick run of df -h revealed the sd card was 100% capped.

Subject: citserver segfaults on libcrypto

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Good afternoon,

I installed Citadel and Webcit on a Centos 6.5 (x86_64) server using the RPMs from download.opensuse.org:

c-ares.x86_64                      1.10.0-69.1           @home_homueller_citadel
citadel.x86_64                     8.24-6.2              @home_homueller_citadel
citadel-client.x86_64              8.24-1.2              @home_homueller_citadel
citadel-common.x86_64              8.24-6.2              @home_homueller_citadel
citadel-doc.x86_64                 8.24-6.2              @home_homueller_citadel
citadel-lang.x86_64                8.24-6.2              @home_homueller_citadel
citadel-mta.x86_64                 8.24-6.2              @home_homueller_citadel
citadel-selinux.x86_64             1.0.77-7.2            @home_homueller_citadel
libcitadel4.x86_64                 8.24-1.2              @home_homueller_citadel
libical.x86_64                     0.4

When I start citadel (/etc/init.d/citadel start), I get the following in /var/log/messages:

Sep 16 16:48:07 sip kernel: citserver[13651]: segfault at 7fba79a64d78 ip 00007fb9282548cc sp 00007fffb5d12570 error 4 in libcrypto.so.1.0.1e[7fb9281b0000+1b5000]

I get ten of the above messages every five seconds. The memory address (as well as ip and sp fields) remain static for all messages although the PID (obviously) changes.

/usr/lib64/libcrypto.so.1.0.1e is owned by openssl-1.0.1e-16.el6_5.15.x86_64.

Any suggestions?

dieselweasel, I don't know about the patch level of OpenSSL on your distro, but you might want to check it against the Heartbleed bug.  Might just be scanning from bots to the calls that are added to the OpenSSL 1.0.1 series though if you are patched.

Hi All,

I've found the email I subscribed with but when I try to unsubscribe I
get the following error.

------------
Confirmation failed.
This could mean one of two things:

You waited too long to confirm your subscribe/unsubscribe request
(the confirmation link is only valid for three days) You have
already successfully confirmed your subscribe/unsubscribe request
and are attempting to do it again.

The error returned by the server was: You need to specify the email
address you'd like to subscribe with. You need to specify the email
address you'd like to subscribe with. Invalid token.
------------

I definitely clicked the unsubscribe button?

Any help would be much appreciated.
