Okay, noted.

I'm considering the use of Citadel for something here at work, and I suspect we need to be able to record the chats. Likely, though, it'll be user-to-user rather than room-based, so this could work for us.

Subject: Re: citadel on raspbian "missing LSB tags and overrides"

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Here I found the solution (thanks for sysmut (thread from 29th of september 2013):

>

I figured it out and all appears to run well.  Just insert the following header in /etc/init.d/webcit

#!/bin/sh

### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:  webcit
# Required-Start:
# Required-Stop:
# Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
# Default-Stop: 0 1 6
# Short-Description: Start daemon at boot time
# Description: Enable service provided by daemon.
### END INIT INFO

...

Please advise if this header info should be better customized.

I sucessful run the easy install script on the raspbian. Everything seems to work.

But during the installation of samba I've got an error concerning citadel.

It has nothing to do with samba, because I ve got the same problem with other new installations:

Is there a problem of citadel and lsb conformity?

Found quite a horrible bug.

When I update my contact details, the POST sends but does not save in the backend.

Is this a localised error, is it my setup per-chance?

Subject: Some users are unablec to send mail

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I have a number of users for whom the write mail dialogue box fails to open.  When I check the user configuration, the use internet mail option has been set and the user has the appropriate user level.

Additionally, although the last login time has been correctly set for these users, the number of logins is not being recorded, it remains at zero.  Deleting the user does not solve the problem.

Citadel and Ubiuntu have just been updated the lastest versions (Citadel 8.24 with WebCit 8.24, server build 8.24), authentication is against MS Active Directory.

Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Subject: certificate tutorial unclear

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi, i have the key error described on this page:

http://www.citadel.org/doku.php/faq:systemadmin:how_to_install_a_certificate_signed_by_a_recognized_certificate_authority

i followed the steps succesfully but without result untill this step:

"If you don't want to replace certificates with ones from a real CA, the easiest way to work around it is WebCits feature to overload the values with yours; remove the defective certificates, and fill these environment Variables:

export O="Your Organization name"
export OU="Your Citadel Server"
export CN="*"

and restart Webcit in that shell. You can use the created certificates for CitServer too."

And i have no idear where to find this or what is described here. What is overloading values, and where can i fill in these variables?

Should i be in /usr/local/citadel/keys and type export O = ... ?

this would be unlikely to me because the allinea starts with "

Problems with Citadels autogenerated Certificates

Citadel making it easy for you

Citadel brings a non interactive way to equip you with basic SSL Certificates, so you can get SSL/HTTPS up and running without any fiddling with openssls commandline tools, howtos reading and so forth.

"

and in my webinterface i see no options to type this.

Please let me know how i can fix this.

ps .. i generated new key/cer/csr files in both

/usr/local/citadel/keys

and

/usr/local/webcit/keys

using these commands:

openssl genrsa -out citadel.key 1024
openssl req -new -key citadel.key -out citadel.csr
openssl x509 -req -days 1365 -in citadel.csr -signkey citadel.key -out citadel.cer

and i tried using export within ssl in both key directories, and later i tried copying the files from citadel/keys to webcit/keys ..

all without result.. i still have this error:

also, and perhaps this has something to do with that problem.

Whenever i install citadel (

apt-get install build-essential curl g++ gettext shared-mime-info libssl-dev
curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

)

I cant reach it on port 80 while netstat tells me that none of my pcs use that port, and my router is forwarding it. Im bypassing it by using port 81, but the cause of this problem i have yet to find. Its not that big of a problem for me because i would like to use https only, but perhaps the problems are linked.

Subject: Citadel native syc connection to Thunderbird (Address/Cal/Task)

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Dev's or others,

I have used Citadel going on 6+  years.  I have been pleased with it's performance and stability.  It is a rock solid Groupware solution internally to itself (browser/webclient).   I understand the use of Bynari client that has to be used by Outlook users to allow Citadel to become a fully functioning Exchange buster.   I know I can use SyncKolab to sync the Addresses, Calendars and Tasks (I have had mixed experiences with it), I also have heard SoGo connector for Thunderbird can be supposedly used with Thunderbird for the same solution (I will admit that I have be less then successful at getting it to work with calendars - and not sure if it will allow address and tasks sync).  but I guess I am perplex that their has not been made inroutes into Citadel to Thunderbird native syncing.  Am I the only one having issues in connectivity between Thunderbird and Citadel?  Or can someone put together their document method - a line by line instructions on how they sync Thunderbird with their Production Citadel server.

Thanks,

-SF-

The problem is fixed.

The solution was remove all files from citadel/keys and webcit/keys and the to rerun curl http://easyinstall.citadel.org/install | bash

It would be apreciated if you would update the tutorial because that was absolutely not understandable ;)

Subject: cant recieve mail: Invalid recipient: user@myemailserver.com

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I appear to no longer be able to receive emails. As far as i know i left it tested and functioning but apparently not anymore.

The problem i have is that i cant receive email, and when i test it locally between 2 accounts on my own server, i will receive the error :

Invalid recipient:  user@myemailserver.com

if i send it to the default adress it made after installing the server which i later corrected to how i want it to be (and tested it and worked)

user@myemailserver.myemailserver.com

then it will send it, but ofc that account does not exist.

..anyone any idear what im doing wrong?

i receive no error when i send to

i can reach my server at domainname port 25 and i can access webcit through domainname

Subject: language

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

One last question i cant seem to figure out..

im trying to change the language without succes.

I am running a headless debian and at first i could only select en_US in webcit.

So i did

dpkg-reconfigure locales
locale-gen (<was probably unnecesary)

and after i did that i was able to select a different language in webcit, however the textlanguage did not change.

So i did another serverwipe and installed it again through curl, but still the same. I can select a language, but the text does not change.

Anyone advise?

Subject: Backup Intergration for Citadel

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Guys.

II maybe wrong, but I believe that people would welcome a backup method (internal to Citadel) in the webcit gui interface for Citadel in the Administrative area.

How would this work?  It could be done through scripts activated through wecit in citadel.  A webcit addition to the Administrator page can be made.  I have some mock ups attached to show you my thoughts of the GUI (there are just basic renders of a possibility at first).

When the user steps through the setup in the webcit, it then configures the script to be made with specifics - such as time to backup, location of destination, location of restore files (for restoring).    Their should also be an enable button to allow the script to back - It will also setup a cron for the backup of the backup job or take the cron job away.

.What would the backup script look like?

Backup script  (yes I realize we would still have to program the webcit side and the scripts for the cron side.)

---------------

#!/bin/sh

#  This is an as-is script for demonstration purposes only - use at your own risk!.
# Complete Backup for Citadel

sudo  /etc/init.d/citadel stop

TIMESTAMP=`date +%Y%m%d_%H%M%S`;

echo $TIMESTAMP

tar -cvf /home/citadel_$TIMESTAMP.tar /etc/citadel /usr/lib/citadel-server/ /var/lib/citadel/ /var/spool/citadel/ /var/run/citadel/ /usr/sbin/citserver /usr/sbin/sendcommand /usr/sbin/sendmail /usr/bin/citadel/ /etc/init.d/citadel /etc/init.d/webcit /usr/share/doc/citadel-server/ /usr/share/locale /usr/share/citadel-server/

PROCESSFILE=tar

if ps ax | grep -v grep | grep $PROCESSFILE > /dev/null

then

echo “ Eeverything is fine.  $PROESSFILE is running, Please wait till backup is done.”

else

echo “$PROCESSFILE is not running”

#start the process

sudo  /etc/init.d/citadel start

---------------

Restore script -  (yes I realize we would still have to program the webcit side)

--------------------

#!/bin/sh

#  This is an as-is script for demonstration purposes only - use at your own risk!.
# File Restore for Citadel

sudo  /etc/init.d/citadel stop

tar xvf  citadel_20090124_142509.tar -C /

PROCESSFILE=tar

if ps ax | grep -v grep | grep $PROCESSFILE > /dev/null

then

echo “ Eeverything is fine.  $PROESSFILE is running, Please wait till backup is done.”

else

echo “$PROCESSFILE is not running”

#start the process

sudo  /etc/init.d/citadel start

------------------------

I really would like to see something if possible brought to Citadel that would allow backups built in to Citadel.   Please give me feed back on your thoughts for this to be added to Citadel.

Thanks.
