Subject: [Bug 460] New: Some citadel commands unexpectedly output line-wrapped data

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

http://bugzilla.citadel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=460

Summary: Some citadel commands unexpectedly output line-wrapped
data
Product: WebCit
Version: 7.xx
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P5
Component: General
AssignedTo: room_citadel_bug_tracking@uncensored.citadel.org

If the subject header is wrapped; e.g. I have a message from Amazon with this
subject line:

Subject: Amazon.co.uk recommends "After War: The Political Economy of
Exporting Democracy (Stanford Economics & Finance): The Political Economy
of Exporting Democracy (Stanford Economics & Finance)" and more

Them the citadel MSGS command may output wrapped text; e.g.

Citadel MSGS ALL|0|0|1 outputs:

17956|1227011853|Amazon.co.uk||amazon-offers@amazon.co.uk|Amazon.co.uk
recommends "After War: The Political Economy of
Exporting Democracy (Stanford Economics & Finance): The Political Economy
of Exporting Democracy (Stanford Economics & Finance)" and more|

(on more than one line)

I think citadel should have un-folded the subject header before dumping it, the
multi-line output chokes webcit and anything else.

dothebart suggests that webcit and other clients should unfold such lines based
on the fact that the continued line begins with a space and not a digit.

So I'm filing this bug under webcit

I've marked it critical because it totally breaks webcit for the entire session
when viewing a folder with such a message in.

My Dad just lost a message in webcit, by accidentally setting the webcit "move
message" folder to the folder he was moving from, and the message vanished.

I've re-produced the problem on uncensored by moving a message from inbox to
inbox and have it vanish.

(It would be good to know where the message went as my Dad would like it back)

In any case it should at least be a no-op rather than a delete.

I guess it fails because it removes it from the dst room after putting it into
src room.

I've marked it normal, not minor, because it causes irretrievable data loss.

This is not a sieve bug, even though a sieve action triggers it.

Some of my users use google-mail for domains, and they have seive forwarding
rules to forward to user@mydomain.com.test-google-a.com

and this generally works.

But ebay messages bounce, with errors like:

A message you sent could not be delivered to some or all of its recipients.
The following addresses were undeliverable:

USER@MYDOMAIN.com.test-google-a.com: 5.7.1 Unauthenticated email is not
accepted from this domain. 6si2419693yxg.20

Here's a link from someone who got Exim to do it right:
http://www.usenet-forums.com/alt-comp-mail-exim/405202-properly-forwarding-dkim-signed-email.html

If citadel can't forward dkim emails (and I've looked but can tell what the
cause of failure is) then maybe there could be some other forward options, like
rfc822-encapsulate the original message (like spamassasin can).

After importing an rss feed from wordpress, in the subject line, some unicode
characters are truncated when shown in webcit; e.g. ’ which I've also put in
the subject line of this message as a test.

When this apostrophe character is part of a subject line, the subject is
truncated from the point at which that character occurs.

Sample header of an imported post are:

From - Thu May 7 13:51:36 2009
X-Mozilla-Status: 0001
X-Mozilla-Status2: 00000000
Return-Path: Sam

Citadel modifies the imported messages by adding a url to the end of the
original message. Maybe this is ok, but for cases where rss import is used to
migrate a blog, this is definitely NOT desirable.

There should be a header that contains this reference - Thunderbird's rss tool
made this url become the message-id which I liked, making it easy to keep the
old urls working when migrating a blog to a citadel mailbox.

It will also help this message to the original rss feed to avoid duplicating
it, as there seems to be no header to relate it to the original message? Does
citadel assume that rss items are always published the order they were authored
in? i.e. if I later publish an item with an earlier date, perhaps citadel will
not notice it?

If a user has a top level private room (i.e. not below his Mail room) of a

Other users can create that new room though.

I wonder then which room the first user will get through to...

the users rooms exist on the main floor. thus 'private' rooms of the same name
will collide. if you go to another floor, and create it there, it should work.

Thanks for the clarification.

Another effect is: Public room on main floor supercedes users private room.

Consider this scenario which I tested at home:

User "dummy" creates an IMAP folder called "test" (which appears as a private
room).

User "dummy" copies messgas into "test"

User "admin" creates a public room on the main floor called "test"

User "dummy" IMAP-copies a message into his "test" folder.
The message appears in the public folder on the main floor.

The user "dummy" can no longer access the messages in test via imap or webcit,
until the main floor folder has been deleted.

I dare not create a folder called "Calendar" after deleting my own, my users
would go nuts!

But what if one of my users does? See bug #458 - I must let them create public
rooms if I let them create private rooms via citadel.

Sam

We tried sharing the Calendar with AIDE rights: user A has AIDE rights, and
shares the private Calendar with B.
That works, however, the private Calendar from A is then the private calendar
of B as well. The original private Calendar from B is lost afterwards!

This is a severe blocker for all Mac users that has been confirmed by at least

Mail.app is unable to handle attachments anymore. The MIME source of the entire

strproc() is called on the server side as well. This basically makes those

Hi.

As per the summary, tasks do not sync via Thunderbird. Tasks do not sync via
SyncML/Funambol either, although I have less information on this. I spoke with
dothebart regarding this issue, and he produced a patch. I tested the patch and
it works partially, new tasks from TB sync now, but an empty, blank task
appears in webcit that cannot be interacted with. Just an empty line in the
tasks list.

Tasks created within TB appear in the imap folder correctly, but the formatting
is incorrect. This task is from TB.
