Why do they need to be there in person? Wouldn't VPN, etc work too.

The guy who runs the joint has to be seen to be believed... - nothing I have any sway over.

Since I posted the previous:

After building a citadel test-bed in Jakarta by remote assistance (from me here in the jungle, on my citadel test-bed here),
he tasked some others to the trail of getting a full-bore Lotus Notes install. Mere words cannot describe my disappointment.

All this for a One-Man showboat of a company (cast of about 20 seats in his mind, go figure.  We have about 40seats here in the jungle he does not even acknowledge exist.)

Anyway, it was a thought.

Well, he is the Boss - a fairly decent one at that - I am merely the consultant, and he is quite an ok guy when you get to know him.

And the Fat Lady hasn't come on stage yet, so we will see.

Well, I've got to sell another car. It's a 2006 Scion TC fast little coupe, all the stuff Scion/Toyota put in:Pioneer CD/radio/satellite/MP3, automatic, alloy wheels, ABS, sunroof, moonroof, etc. . Price: $9000 or what I owe that month. I am suffering from Jeep Fever, and there's just one cure, a CJ/YJ/TJ I can take on trails and to the beach.

I want to buy something from an amazon shop located in USA, amazon.com won't let me ship to germany, so I need to find a way around that. But first I would like some questions answered:

1) What's the limit for toll/duty? I heard different numbers, one says 25$, other says 45$. Also, what would they charge?

2) What's the prize for a package about 16"x 16" x 14"? Weight would be less than 30 ounces (it is all plush). I found 30$-40$, depending on how fast i want it delivered with USPS. Is there anything cheaper?

(I didn'f find any "globalisation doesn't work" room, so I post it here...)

Greetings from the metric world, btw ;)

If anyone is in the Rapid City, SD area and needs a motorcycle, I'm looking at selling mine.

1981 Suzuki GS750 (i think... have to check on that exact model.. i know it's a GS though)

Pros: Still runs. Extremely comfortable. Recent oil change. Recent brake replacements.

Cons: Needs new Stator, Regulator, Battery, and has a small hole in one of the tail pipes.

Accessories: Back rest, back storage rack, trickle charger (just in-case), slip cover, wind-jammer (with storage).

Radio was removed but all of the wiring and speakers are still there.

I'm asking $1500 or best offer.

Just thought I'd give my friends at Uncensored first crack at it. I'll post more details later when I look over the bike more.

I've talked about this in the Hot Rodding room and the above message. I've posted my motorcycle on craigslist if anyone wants to check it out.

Sorry you didn't get any nibbles on that offer. Sure looks nice, but I'm about ten years and a few thousand miles away from being able to buy your bike.

Subject: Proxy service for redirecting snail mail

Is there some kind of trustworthy and affordable service that offers some kind of postbox in the US of A and then proxies the package to olde europe?

Amazon and the amazon subshops often do not ship to my home address in germany for reasons I have yet to understand. I just want used and out of print books which they don't sell here (for reasonable prices).

Shipping outside the US is expensive and involves paperwork. If the buyer is paying for shiping the seller still has to deal
with paperwork. In New York, I have heard of a few places that handled shipping to Canada. In south Florida there were plenty
of places that handled shipping to various Latin American countries. I will ask around but the best place to look is a place
with a large number of German immigrants, then look for a import/export business.

Thanks!

I think in this case, the problem is that the "fullfilled by Amazon" stuff simply has some stupid restraints set in their software. The stuff sold by amazon directly (and some few 3rd party shops) usually ships to europe for varying prizes. I have paid for shipping as low as 3$ for a book to germany and up to 10$. Some of them travel for about a month (probably by ship) and some arrive within 2 weeks.

It is all a mystery to me. Since those Shenzen resellers like Deal Extreme will ship a sinlge battery worth less than 2$ to europe for almost no shipping cost. Globalisation is failing totally here!

There are a number of shops that ship internationally listed on this site: http://internationalshippingshops.blogspot.co.il/

The more complete list is on hizmanti.com, but that's in Hebrew...
