just finished J. M. Straczynski's Rising Stars. i highly recommend it especially for those who have enjoyed B5. it's in the super-hero genre, and the artwork is more than adequate.

penguin, I misread that as J. M. Stravinsky's Rising Stars; I just got finished listening to "The Rite of Spring" (I had the misfortune to learn the part for my instrument, which I played in a recital, for one of my chamber music classes. You wanna talk about things that will drive you insane?

Isn't there a measure or two of like 13/6 time, or some hair-pulling please-don't-let-me-fuckup-the-count-during-performance psychotic time signature, or something like that, about half-way through the damned thing?

I can't recommend Rising Stars anymore, unfortunately. JMS and Top Cow had a non-public falling out, and fans have been waiting a LONG time for the last issues of that story to finish...and it doesn't look like that story will ever finish. Too bad, really.

Stravinsky himself recorded "Le Sacre" in 1960 (with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra)-- it's available on a Sony Classical CD.

So what did everyone else think of Cowboy Bebop : The Movie?

I've been reading the comic series of 30 Days of Night, about vampires that attack the town of Barrow, Alaska, which has winter night that lasts for a long time, and about the resulting slaughter of the citizens. Interesting story, has anyone else read it?

Flynn: I own it haven't seen it. I haven't gotten all of Cowboy Bebop yet, so I haven't wanted to see the movie.

The Bebop movie is self-contained. You do not need to know anything about Cowboy Bebop to enjoy it.

That *would* be nice.

I watched both the American and Japanese version on my DVD. I kind of liked the Japanese approach better.

umm, I heard VIZ will release some new episodes of Inuyasha beginning of MAY, which is nice because there are over two hundred episodes, as well as 4 movies!
Did anyone see/watch Rorouni Kenshin? I can't figure out where they got a redhaired samurai but what the hell

It pisses me off that there are 200+ episodes of Inuyasha out there and the fucking Cartoon Network just keeps running the same 20 fucking episodes over and over again until the fucking end of time...

I've noticed the same thing with "Samurai Jack" on Cartoon Network. I keep seeing the same episodes over and over. It's understandable that new animation takes a while to produce, but with pre-existing material, the only hold-ups I could think of would be dubbing/subtitling Japanese into English or a hold-up in acquiring broadcast rights.

I'm sure it's the latter. I guess they could only afford the first 2 seasons.
